I know there are a couple exceptional students who get in with low 160's.

But never heard of a 150 getting into Columbia Law.

Agreed. A 150 is below average, so I can't imagine that, even with solid softs, it would be enough to pull you off of the reserve list. Also... Getting off of the reserve list is unlikely for everyone (not to sound like negative Nancy, y'all!) If you want to go to a top school (especially a T6), I'd definitely recommend retaking.

I spoke to a trustee member who said that 90+ percent of the class came from ED this year. Wonder if that's true. He said "that's why wonderful applicants like you get WL"

I realized he was just being nice, but also would be a weird thing to lie about. I'm withdrawing anyway, but thought I'd share what was told to me on the off chance it was true.

Does anyone know the % of people accepted off the reserve list each year on average? I looked through some old threads and it seemed to be like close to nobody...I'm just trying to adjust my expectations to fit reality.

Does anyone else know why an applicant with both numbers above the 75th percentile might be put on reserve?
lmfao y'all, for real, I give up.

Forgot to submit the form to be on reserve. Don't care enough. I'm not getting in off reserve and if I did I wouldn't go

So, I know this line was in the pdf that was sent to Reserve candidates: "It is not possible for candidates on Reserve to have an interview with the Dean of Admissions or make an appearance before the Admissions Committee." Does this mean we're discouraged from trying to visit the school to show interest?

I visited yesterday, kind of a big deal since I'm from literally across the US. The receptionist wouldn't let me get past her. Maybe I'm not "hard" enough, but that was my experience. Honestly not sure if it was even worth visiting. Wrote my name on the visitor check in list. If you live in NYC, I say go, otherwise unless you're there for other schools (like me) or another reason, idk if I would go.

live in nyc and have visited three times. never have I made it beyond the receptionist, and on the spectrum between complete push-over and hard, I'm resting bitch face incarnate meets Miranda Priestly on a fire-breathing dragon with Daenarys.

They don't care. If you visit you'll have to make it worthwhile and only then will you be able to make the visit mean something to the adcom. In other words try to meet with leaders within student groups, people from your undergrad, visit a class, etc. and then write a LOCI telling them about it. I don't think it takes more than a visit to show serious interest, especially if you're from so far away. Write about the visit!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
