Applied 11/1 and went complete 11/3. Interviewed with Dean Sorenson about two weeks later.

Is it normal for every applicant to get an interview with the Dean?? If I do not get an interview is that a bad sign?
I am waiting for December LSAT and then applying!

I am not 100% sure, but I think BYU does interview everyone that they are considering admitting.

Got the call from Dean Sorenson yesterday! I'm in :) Overly excited considering I'm 25% < LSAT < 50% and GPA < 25%

Application went complete on 1/4.

Waiting for a phone call from Dean Sorenson is absolutely killing me. When should I hear back??

GPA is at 25th percentile, LSAT is at 50th percentile

I sent in my application on the 9th, and I had my interview today. She told me the next wave of acceptance won't come until mid to late February. So that may be why they are taking their time. So I have like another month until I get a decision.

Also... are you applying for the Clark Scholarship? I know people who apply for that get both a required/expedited interview

I have a 166 and a 3.67. I didn't apply for the Clark Scholarship, my GPA isn't high enough. I wouldn't worry about it taking longer, if they really are holding of admission offers until late next month, they may not be worried about getting people in order or quickly.

Went complete on 1/23? And received an invitation for an interview today by email.

What should I expect from the interview?

Edit: URM, LSAT <25, GPA = Median, Above Average softs

It is really just a chat. Dean Sorenson will probably ask why you want to go to BYU, what makes you interested in law school, etc. A question that almost tripped me up was when she asked what I would contribute to BYU, but I got through it.
But like I said, more than anything it is just a conversation about law school and stuff. She will also give you more info on when you should be hearing back.

I had my interview yesterday and you were dead on! Thank you so much! It really helped to prepare some answers ahead of time.

No problem! Let me know when you hear back, I don't think it will take as long as she says, but we'll see.

Got accepted via phonecall from the Dean on 2/6.
Had my interview on 1/25
Sent in my application 1/9.
I was told scholarship info and welcome packet are sent out the day after acceptance, hoping it is in the mail tomorrow.

No :x  I don't know if I should be expecting to be WL or rejected at this point...The dean said they'd give me a decision around the third week of February and nothing. Maybe my rejection letter is in the mail. I thought I would get in because I got into Iowa, Colorado, and Utah (and I'm LDS) but who knows.

I'll let you know the decision as soon as I know.

Oh wow... I am so sorry to hear that! I completely understand where you are coming from. When I interviewed, the Dean said I should receive a decision in up to 3 weeks.

If you dont mind me asking... What are your stats??

Sounds like we're in the same boat :/

URM Not AA 155 3.8 Above average softs

My lsat score is killing me. It was my first try and I thought my softs could drag me through admissions rather than try to retake it.

What are yours?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
