Did the letter specifically say that you won't be receiving any $? I'm know ppl have been getting hand written notes in the packet saying that scholarship info will come later. It won't hurt to send a quick email to the admissions office and check to see if they're planning on sending out your offer at a later time!twozeroone wrote:Personal reasons, mostly.Mikey947 wrote:Why are you considering UCI with a 174?twozeroone wrote:International with 174 lsat score.

No problem! Really hoping for some $$$ coming your way! Your killer LSAT and international status (no ties to the OC area) are some possible factors contributing to a delay in scholarship decisiontwozeroone wrote:Thx! Re: UC Irvine c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
That's not really how WLs work. Schools see how many seats are left after each deposit deadline and pull students off the WL accordingly. The biggest wave is probably after the 1st deposit deadline, but there could be a trickle throughout the summer all the way up until August because of students getting off higher schools' WLs and withdrawing.Mikey947 wrote:I made the waitlist and I will be waiting to hear what the final decision is, even though I’ve heard that in the past they’ve waited until August to admit people off of the waitlist. Also I know there is a very slim chance of getting off, but if you guys know for sure that you're not going, please tell them as soon as possible and withdraw! It would help a lot

Is it too late to apply if one is looking for a substantial scholarship?

Just apply and find out. App has no fee. We can't guess at how much money UCI has left for schollys.freekick wrote:Is it too late to apply if one is looking for a substantial scholarship?

I just received my acceptance packet in the mail today, which was a huge surprise because I didn't get an e-mail. Has everyone been getting scholarship info with their admission packet, or does it usually come a week or so after? I also got a note from the dean saying I had an exceptional application, so I'm hoping that means I'll get some money.

When I was admitted the scholly info came separately a couple of weeks later but this was earilier in the cycle so not sure if it still applies. Congrats on having a great application though!notmarkymark wrote:I just received my acceptance packet in the mail today, which was a huge surprise because I didn't get an e-mail. To the people who got the "scholarship forth coming" note in their acceptance package... have any of you guys got your scholarship info yet?

Finally received my financial aid award. They were a lot more generous than I thought they would be considering my numbers.

I received a link to my scholarship info via email and I just wanted to confirm: it appears that the amount shown is the total scholarship, not the amount per year. Does anyone know whether this is correct?

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
UCI will move up but will do so slowly. Out of the methodology used for the rankings, UCI should improve on the quality and facilities categories because as more alumni go on to work everywhere, peer and attorney/judges reports will get better and UCI is in the process of getting a new facility.
caveat: I went to UCI so there could be some bias. I'm still happy I went to UCI when it was unranked.

anyone try negotiating schollys with irvine? if so could you help a brother out via pm? they are pretty high on my list (if not a top choice rn) but with an increase they could be a lock. any experiences anyone have or heard of yet?

hahahaha wow great advice . the point of consulting this thread is just to hear about experiences this year, something you won't find on a general post. ive been negotiating and have read those threads and they have been helpful.mudiverse wrote:If you want to negotiate then go negotiate. I don't think you need to consult this thread in particular - negotiating for all schools follows the same pattern. You can check out the financial aid forum or google for some template emails.largemarge26 wrote:aryi3025 wrote:anyone try negotiating schollys with irvine? if so could you help a brother out via pm? they are pretty high on my list (if not a top choice rn) but with an increase they could be a lock. any experiences anyone have or heard of yet?

I did, got a resounding "No." I was surprised by that, but I've heard a handful of other students had similar experiences.aryi3025 wrote:anyone try negotiating schollys with irvine? if so could you help a brother out via pm? they are pretty high on my list (if not a top choice rn) but with an increase they could be a lock. any experiences anyone have or heard of yet?
