Anyone else bothered by the new USNWR rankings that have UNC at 39th and Wake at 36th?

Asked to negotiate in mid Feb and was told they were holding off on negotiations until closer to the deposit deadline. I received an increase today. If you're thinking of negotiating now may be the time.

Wake 3L jumping in to say...those rankings don't matter. I matriculated at Wake when it was like 31, then it dropped to high 40s, now it's ahead of UNC (for now). The schools between 20-45ish jump around all the time.

Accepted today with scholarship of 17500 a year. Im wondering if its worth it to negotiate scholarship money, I received 22,000 from Emory per year (although they're more expensive) and could use that as leverage. But curious as to if they would go any higher considering they're already pretty high now.

It doesn't hurt to try, but I doubt they will increase from $17,500 because that is the next step down from Chancellor's (at least if you are in-state), which they've already announced, and the in-state tuition is so cheap compared to Emory and most other schools.

I haven't done any negotiating yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've read on here, you should start by explaining why you want to attend UNC. If you would definitely attend with more money, tell them that. Then bring up your offer from Emory and any other superior offers you have from peers that could be used as leverage (attach documentation of offers to email as well). Just be courteous and try not to sound like you think you're entitled to more money. The worst they can say is they can't offer more.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
