Update on scholly reconsideration: Received email today stating there were no more additional funds left to distribute.
And some talk about how it will be worth the $$.

Should we all band together and start making outrageous/unreasonable demands? I understand where you're coming from. I was pretty disappointed to not receive a bump too, as I received one everywhere else I asked. But I'm pretty set on practicing in Dallas, and I did not get into UT, so I can justify the high price tag. I paid my deposit on Tuesday..

Re: SMU Dedman c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Got into just about every school ranked below UT (except Georgey...but who cares) and I am really contemplating between SMU and UH. UH 75th percentile salary is 160k and median is above 100k. All for significantly less investment than SMOO (SMU). Plus, maybe they will bump me if i askSean_33 wrote:A steak dinner would be a nice consolationthe guardians42 wrote:Should we all band together and start making outrageous/unreasonable demands? Do yall know if they are still sending acceptance letters out? My application was completed on 1/23 and I haven't gotten any updates from SMU. I've gotten into other schools but SMU is still my top choice, but the deadline for other schools' deposits is coming up soon. I'd appreciate any info/help yall could give me. Thanks!

Same here - but mine went complete 2/1. I emailed Gina and she just said "you are guaranteed a decision by end of April."
My Current Status Date has been at 2/1 until today, and is now blank.......

Mine is blank now too... Anyone knows what that means? Hopefully it means they're about to change our status.zer0_Her0 wrote:aggieprelaw wrote:Do yall know if they are still sending acceptance letters out? Weird because you've already posted in this thread that you were accepted last week. And in another thread you claimed to be a 2L at FSU.. hmmmmWamBamThankYouMaam wrote:Just got the waitlist email. I've already committed to a school, so I'm not too disappointed lol.

This is way funnier because the SMU part is true, and seems like something Ken Bone would do!206488476 wrote:Weird because you've already posted in this thread that you were accepted last week. Waitlist questions...
Do any of yall know when is the last day they can give us a decision? And do they send them out in groups or all at once?

Has anyone heard from the waitlist or know when we will probably hear from it? I heard most people get off the waitlist, is that true?

Not sure if this is true. Hopefully it is, I'm also hoping to get in off the waitlist.talkingheads12 wrote:Has anyone heard from the waitlist or know when we will probably hear from it? I heard most people get off the waitlist, is that true?

Have you paid for another seat deposit? I have paid one down just in case, but I want to know if it will hurt our chances on the SMU waitlist?

SMU grad here. Congrats to all those who got accepted!
I just wanted to share a few tips for those planning to move to Dallas. Popular places for Dedman students to live are listed below:
- The Village. Huge community near SMU. Selection of ten different communities with different price points. I have lived in The Village for several years now and I love it. It has a great sense of community and they are renovating the community club house and pool area. I highly recommend this property if you're going to SMU.
- The Phoenix on Mockingbird. Classmates lived here while I was at SMU.
- The Marquis communities throughout Dallas.
- The Post communities throughout Dallas.
- Cambridge Court and The Avery apartments across from The Village. Cambridge Court is good for people on a budget.
- Lincoln on University. Owned by Lincoln Property Management who also owns The Village.
- If you are signing up for a electric plan, I have a referral code J4PSRCQ to share if you are signing up with Reliant Energy for a term plan. Just input when you sign up for a term plan on their website and you will get a $50 bill credit on your first statement.
SMU Dedman Law admissions office has a more comprehensive list for those moving to the area. They regularly update it for incoming students if you need more options.
Obviously, it's best to move early. I imagine though that if you're getting accepted from the waitlist, the above will be most helpful! If you have any questions about the Village, feel free to PM me! I'm happy to help.
