I was thinking the same thing. Maybe there is pressure to give people responses quickly and they are afraid to accept too many people? It's a random theory based on no actual fact but just a thought I hadjasonxi wrote:Is it the first year the have FT? If so, that might say something.

This one is absolutely inexplicable, and actually deeply concerning to me as a 2016-17 applicantjasonxi wrote:Waitlisted 165 3.84. Is it YP or maybe there's a fundamental mistake in my application? I'm freaking out.

Yeah there has to something going on that we're all missing. The numbers alone, regardless of softs should be pretty much auto admitted (in my opinion).
It does at least make me feel better to know that I am not the only one that was blindsided by my wait list email

So you applied early as hell, are one point below their 75th LSAT, at median GPA, first generation student, AND URM.... And got waitlisted? Very surprising. Apps must be way up this year?Ceedro wrote:Waitlisted today. 162/3.57. Mexican URM. First generation student

Dude yeah, I thought I had an acceptance in the bag. When I got waitlisted I was shocked, if we're being honest. I mean I know I am not a HYS candidate but I thought for sure I'd be a lock for BC.vcap180 wrote:So you applied early as hell, are one point below their 75th LSAT, at median GPA, first generation student, AND URM.... ..and to top it off, I have about 3 years experience working as a lawyer in India and even obtained a reco from a retired Judge I really did not see this coming!

Yup. If this were a "what are my chances" thread, I think most of us would say that you (and a few others who said they were waitlisted) would not only be admitted, but have a decent shot at a nice scholarship.Ceedro wrote:Dude yeah, I thought I had an acceptance in the bag. Has anyone seen this kind of trend at other schools this cycle?

The theater and one gov were presumably great because I had a very good relationship with both). Two page personal statement about how directing strengthened me as a law student; concise and I thought well written. A lot of student council, honor council, admissions committee. I also wrote an addendum explaining why I think my GPA is more indicative of my success. I'm wondering if they're looking more at the soft's this year.Nayanthika wrote:Waitlisted with a 162 LSAT and a foreign GPA classified as 'Superior' (I'm told that roughly corresponds with a 4.0 GPA)
I really thought this was the one university that would accept me!
Yeah but I had a lot of softs too and honestly never thought I'd be WL. 162/3.65, double major, graduated early, strong LORs, three executive board positions, honor society, teaching assistant, research assistant, and what I thought was a strong PS. I wonder if there's something going on this year because a lot of people saying they got WL that I would normally think would've been in.

WL.
164 LSAT 3.6 GPA.
LSAT above 75%. GPA above the median.
I am confused.

These results are strange.... I was accepted on FT, and I was worried about YP because both my stats are above their 75th. But I am originally from the Boston area so maybe that helped me?

Ugh this makes me feel better that others with stats above 50th and 75th percentile are getting waitlisted. I'm right above both medians and have good softs, also waitlisted last week.CPAlawHopefu wrote:WL.

Re: Boston College c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Idk whats going on. I got in last week (not FT) and my stats were basically like all these WL's. I'm from the South with no ties to Boston, but I did solicit a fee waiver (not that that really matters I guess). Idk, I'm sorry and I hope perhaps it's a short waitlist wait. I can't think of what would have made me different.a.sch wrote:Ugh this makes me feel better that others with stats above 50th and 75th percentile are getting waitlisted. FWIW, I was accepted regular decision last week with a 164, 3.2 non-URM.tuesdayninja wrote:All these waitlists have me a little concerned. I was accepted last cycle with a 167/3.26. Retaking in December but I hope it's not tougher to get admittance this year in the chance I don't improve.

Thank you! And I got into my first choice law school, so I will be withdrawing from BC soon - so hopefully someone off the waitlist can get in.tuesdayninja wrote:Ah okay, thanks for the slight relief. Is it too early to send a LOCI? BC was the first choice for me and the WL email came as a huge blow to my ego. I absolutely must get into this school and I really hate to do nothing until April to let them know that I'm absolutely interested.

I'm under review today so I should have an answer by next Friday. I didn't really worry about beig admitted before because I'm above both 75ths but with these results who the hell knows.

The e-mail asked us to fill in an online form in which you can choose between remaining on the waitlist because you're strongly interested and removing your name from the waitlist.CPAlawHopefu wrote:Is it too early to send a LOCI? Was getting ready to apply but don't want to waste money to get waitlisted. 3.89/165 non-URM, assumed I was a shoe-in but this thread is disheartening.

Just to update I got in with 75th LSAT & >75th GPA. I am non-URM and am still in undergrad. Since I live not too far away, I visited the school not too long ago though and I think that helped.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
