Checking in.
It's one of my top schools. Looooove Seattle, definitely my favorite city in the states. Not sure how hard it is to break into the region there without existing ties, but I'd love to make it work.

Also checking in Submitted my application on Friday! UW Law seems to be a regional school with some employed here and there in CA. If you mean like corporate law firms, yeah T14ers take jobs at big firms in Seattle, but there's quite a bit of UW alumni in big firms too if you look up associates at any of the big firms.

Reapplicant checking in.
Born and raised in the Northwest. Applied last year and was rejected. Might ED if I underperformed on the Sept. LSAT. +1 for Seattle.

Any knowledge if UW's ED actually provides a boost? I've heard so many "never ed" storiesTakeItToTrial wrote:Reapplicant checking in.

I talked with admissions after my 2015 rejection, and they said it does provide a very slight boost. I've heard that concern too, but UW has cheap in-state tuition and they offer relatively little scholarship money. They are one of the only law schools that does not automatically award scholarships upon admission. You must apply for scholarship money, and the process is very competitive.cianchetta0 wrote:Any knowledge if UW's ED actually provides a boost? With this in mind, ED at UW is less of a risk than ED at most other schools, if it's your first choice.

it is, totally bummer about my lsat score though. pulled a 164. which would be ok, but not, considering I'm a splitter.TakeItToTrial wrote:I talked with admissions after my 2015 rejection, and they said it does provide a very slight boost. Well, their median dropped to 163 this year, so you are above. But I feel your pain. Just pulled down a ***, definitely below my average.cianchetta0 wrote:it is, totally bummer about my lsat score though. pulled a 164. which would be ok, but not, considering I'm a splitter.TakeItToTrial wrote:I talked with admissions after my 2015 rejection, and they said it does provide a very slight boost. Yeah I'm on the fence about a retake. Don't know if December would be enough time to establish better habits. I think, regardless, I'm going to ED. Why not, I have nothing to lose. Also a veteran, and have tons of federal assistance.TakeItToTrial wrote:Well, their median dropped to 163 this year, so you are above. But I feel your pain. Unless your GPA is terrible, as a veteran with a 164, you should be good. Another take couldn't hurt, however. Might force them to give you some scholarship money.cianchetta0 wrote:Yeah I'm on the fence about a retake. Don't know if December would be enough time to establish better habits. GPA is o.k. Thanks, I think I will take again, even if it's just +2,3 points, that would be worth it.TakeItToTrial wrote:Unless your GPA is terrible, as a veteran with a 164, you should be good. Anyone know why they are so stingy with $ here? Seattle would be amazing but not like this.

My understanding is it's because their in-state tuition rates are low, and they're the top school in the region. Plus people love Seattle. Thus, they don't have to compete for qualified applicants in the same way most other schools do. But I could be wrong.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:Anyone know why they are so stingy with $ here? Right. They aren't sharing their graduate pool with any equitable schools in the area, so if you're set on Seattle, you're paying for it.TakeItToTrial wrote:My understanding is it's because their in-state tuition rates are low, and they're the top school in the region. How long has it taken everyone to hear something from UW. I submitted my apps on 10/21 and have heard back from every other school and haven't heard a thing from UW. So just wondering how long it took everyone to get a confirmation email.

Anybody else thinking of visiting UW for a class visit or tour? I've been to Seattle and other parts of WA, but never around University Village
