EDIT: there's a $250 travel stipend for the March 31 preview event, only if you matriculate.
"A reimbursement of up to $250 for travel expenses (airfare, train tickets, bus fare, car mileage) incurred to attend either Preview Day or Mini-Preview will be available upon matriculation in August. Please hold on to your receipts, which may be turned into Law School Fiscal Services between Orientation and September 15, 2017"

If Trump is impeached, what are the odds that GW students would get a chance to intern with the Senators and such who are leading the proceedings?

Consensus form last year's thread is that they won't decide until April...after seat deposits. An email I got from admissions said the same more or lessnjdevils327 wrote:I'm visiting the school tomorrow. Hoping to be able to talk to someone from admissions about uppin dat scholly in person

I've been looking forward to the Ca admitted student reception for the past month! Are you planning on wearing a suit? I noticed that on the website of the social club it is located at that it said everyone must have a sports jacket after 6pm, so I am guessing I probably should just wear a suit.charles117 wrote:anyone going to the ca admitted student receptions?
I'll probably go in a suit anyway.

For those who have been accepted, I was just wondering under what medium you received your first acceptance notification. Do they email, update the status check portal, snail mail? Additionally what was your timeline after being "In Review" (I've been IR since 2/24) and I'm getting ancy lol

I applied 12/15, accepted 1/10 via email. Not sure if the status checker updated first or not - I just noticed the email first. Email came with scholarship info and I received a fancy acceptance package in the mail a few weeks later.jfo13 wrote:For those who have been accepted, I was just wondering under what medium you received your first acceptance notification. If they stick to a similar time frame I should hear back some time this week then based on when I actually applied, fingers crossed! Thanks for the help! I was a late applicant and relatively split (162/3.4) so I'm just hoping for the best at this pointjessmeesh wrote:I applied 12/15, accepted 1/10 via email. A consulting firm posted the 2018 US News Top Law Schools a few days before the official list comes out on the 14th. Looks like GW dropped down to 30th, anybody have any insight?

Hoping that the (pretty big) drop in the rankings makes GW a little more generous with $$$ come negotiation time.

I now have bigger offers from BC and BU, both much higher. I am still waiting on W&L which has been generous with people in my position, and they over took GW and are now #28. I am hoping this only works out well for me.texas95 wrote:Hoping that the (pretty big) drop in the rankings makes GW a little more generous with $$$ come negotiation time.

I'll be looking to use my W&L offer to negotiate with GW too. I have $35k/yr from W&L and $25k/yr from GW as of now.cwl2017 wrote:I now have bigger offers from BC and BU, both much higher. With W&L's substantially lower COA, GW's biglaw numbers being skewed by their IP placements, and GW's downward slide in the rankings, I personally can't justify attending GW unless they match W&L at the very least.

Yikes. That's a pretty major drop. Weren't they like 20 or 22 just a couple of years ago? Anyone know more about the explanation?bitter_melon wrote:I don't have any insight but I'm very disappointed.FunandFriendship wrote:A consulting firm posted the 2018 US News Top Law Schools a few days before the official list comes out on the 14th. Anyone else thinking they better step up their scholly game? Im not sure paying anything for this school is worth it if there ranking is continually going down.

When we bring up their plummetting rankings for scholly negotiations, I really hope they say "rankings don't really matter" so that I can write back, "right....just like how you take a 'holistic' approach in admissions and that our LSATs don't matter that much.."
Sincerely,
Salty Applicant.

Application just went to 'In Review'!
Sent 2/15
Complete 3/2 (retook Feb LSAT)
In Review 3/9
How long is the wait between 'In Review' and 'Decision Made'?

From searching through all the posts it sounds like we could hear as quickly as a week or the decision could drag on a couple months (or in our case until the end of the cycle). In general, it seems like they've been making speedy decisions - within a couple weeks. Fingers crossed!!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
