Do share do share, cus Vanderbilt has been awfully quite throughout this application cycle for me...didn't even rely to confirm my loci letter.

I sent my 3rd one in today and they replied. Maybe check to see that they received them.
shit how do you even come up with that many words to lick their butt, deeply impressed. I mean apart from the information update, which is usually a one or two liner the rest is just pure BS....

HAHAHA I'm a crazy bitch that's involved in all kinds of shit so it's easy. I didn't do an interview though so I'm worried that's going to keep me from ever getting off the waitlist.
lets be honest even if they offer you a place would you still go?

It depends. I'm on so many waitlist. I would seriously consider it. It's definitely in my top 3.

I didn't interview either and I'm worried about the same thing. I visited and spoke to an admin officer hoping that would make a difference. So exhausted and tired of kissing ass!! JUST LET ME IN

Questions for current Vandy law student:

1) Are you happy at Vanderbilt? Looking back on your decision process, would you have done it any differently? What would you say are the main differentiating factors between Vanderbilt and other schools you were looking at?
2) What's been the best part of law school so far?
3) Are all your 1L exams open book?

I'm pretty happy with Vanderbilt, mostly because of my scholarship--the employment numbers are really good and I'm not paying much to go here. I do have some criticisms though: (1) legal writing is terrible, they don't teach you much and it's mostly a thing where you're going to be on your own; (2) career services is useless; (3) there are too few journals here.

Exams are open book, but beware: some professors don't give out any practice exams and model answers are even rarer. They hand write the exams (obviously) and the don't always make perfect sense. This means exams can be a bit of a crapshoot, and you can know your shit and still not do as well as you'd think. I've gotten A's in shit I didn't think I was very good at and missed A's and A-'s in shit I knew backwards but the exam was weird/hid the ball well.

Best part of law school? Not sure TBH---the first year is kind of hellish and this isn't a big fun school, it's more kind of cliquey. I don't regret coming, though. The employment numbers and my scholarship make it worth it.

I've enjoyed it so far. The biggest piece of advice I have (which applies to any school really) is get to know the faculty. Go to office hours frequently. I would keep a running list of questions I had written down so I had an excuse to go more often. Building relationships with professors makes classes much more enjoyable, and it helps personalize your education. Many Professors will also go out of their way to let you know of opportunities if they know you personally.

Exams were all open book except one exam was half closed-book multiple choice. Practice exams are by far and away the best way to prepare.

Awesome, very helpful! Really appreciate your responses. These things matter since as great as it is getting in, if you can't do well once you get in, it's a crapshoot. I know some schools are eliminating the open book policy since they're worried about bar passage rates. Thanks again. Vandy <3

To be honest, open vs closed book wouldn't change all that much. If you're using a lot of time going through your outlines you probably won't do that well given the time limits. If you do enough practice exams you'll be able to expect what types of questions will be asked and you can just apply the frameworks to the fact patterns.

Practice exams are your best friends

Got a response. Basically just saying that the waitlist has gone into August before and that they take note of students who reach out and say they are interested.

I just emailed them as well. Hopefully will force them to give me something by throwing them my Emory offer.

Does anybody know when Vandy students are required to pay their first tuition deposit by? I am still holding on to a small thread of hope of getting off a waitlist somewhere, and I don't want to end up in a situation where I get off the waitlist but have already paid tuition.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
