Accepted this weekend via 1 a.m. email. Awaiting letter with financial aid info.
As someone who has not spent much time in LA and would be coming from living the past 3 yrs in Northern CA, what impressions do users here have of Loyola and living in LA as a law student?

I'm an LA native who went to school in the Bay area. I have several friends who are Loyola Law grads/current students and they seem to be pretty happy with their choice. Loyola is located blocks away from the hustle & bustle of DTLA so you have that city vibe as soon as you step off the campus. The campus itself is pretty self contained and is located on one large city block and is planned around a central courtyard area. The neighborhood around the campus is a mix of residential and commercial. My impression is that it's more of a commuter school since there are limited apartment buildings directly around the campus and the parking structure was always full when I took my LSAT course there over last summer.OaklandJD2016 wrote:Accepted this weekend via 1 a.m. email. Anyone also invited to the summer institute in their acceptance letter or know anything about it?

What part of LA do you think is best to commute to Loyola's campus from while still living in a walkable area?crookedsmile wrote:The area around the campus isn't the most attractive I'll admit. However, the heart of DTLA - LA Live - is a few blocks away from the Loyola Law campus. The actual campus itself is interesting looking, definitely not what you'd 'typically' expect from a law school campus. I like it, but I can see how it could be off-putting to some who might be expecting a more traditional looking school.

Not sure if you mean an area where you can walk around in (walk to park, grocery store, movies, etc.) or an area from which you can walk to campus regularly.OaklandJD2016 wrote:What part of LA do you think is best to commute to Loyola's campus from while still living in a walkable area?crookedsmile wrote:The area around the campus isn't the most attractive I'll admit. Sorry, I mean a walkable neighborhood (parks, groceries, bars) that is a reasonable commute by transit or car to campus.crookedsmile wrote:Not sure if you mean an area where you can walk around in (walk to park, grocery store, movies, etc.) or an area from which you can walk to campus regularly.OaklandJD2016 wrote:What part of LA do you think is best to commute to Loyola's campus from while still living in a walkable area?crookedsmile wrote:The area around the campus isn't the most attractive I'll admit. I applied in February and was accepted within 3 weeks. My online status never changed though, and I never received an email (and still haven't). I found out via mail.richyli1995 wrote:Applied in the late Oct and still waiting for a decision. Anyone on the same boat? Or is it just me...
If they had mailed my acceptance to the wrong address or if the mail was lost, I would never have known, I guess. Could be the case with you? Or maybe it's taking them longer for some applicants. Couldn't hurt to ask if you need to decide on a law school soon.

Are they sending the acceptance letters separately from scholarship letters?? I got my acceptance but no word on any financial assistance yet.crookedsmile wrote:I heard back this weekend too. Can anyone speak to the average turn around time at Loyola? I got a confirmation email 2/26, however status checker has been blank. Stats are: lsat <25% Gpa> 75%.

TBH I'm annoyed with Loyola. Sent my app 1/17 and its been radio silence since going complete the day after - meanwhile, I know certain individuals already heard back and they applied mid-Feb.S3r@f1 wrote:Can anyone speak to the average turn around time at Loyola?
