For those who are finalists of the achievement fellowship, I hear we won't be given merit aid until the decisions come out regarding the fellowship first.wildquest8200 wrote:did you guys hear about merit aid? i'm wondering if i haven't heard because i'm not getting anything or because i'm in the running for thisginawwhan wrote:It was about 45 minutes long!calpolisci2016 wrote:For those who interviewed for the achievement fellowship, how long was your interview?

Also still waiting. Applied 2/1, complete 2/3. I bet this week (leading up to some schools' first deposit deadline) will be a huge week for decisions.

It's a little nutty how stingy UCLA has been this year. Better offers from higher ranked schools.
It sucks because I want LA too.

Even taking into account UCLA's lower COA? Higher ranked sounds like T13 which likely places better into LA biglaw assuming you have local ties.Rigo wrote:It's a little nutty how stingy UCLA has been this year. Better offers from higher ranked schools.

For those of you who received the summer cash grant along with your scholarship, does anyone know if a judicial internship during the summer falls under the umbrella of "a nonprofit organization or government agency"?

3L @ UCLA here. As a general rule UCLA does not count judicial externships for their summer funding. You could be at the DA or PD's office and get funded but not externing with a judge. I heard there would be some exceptions in the years to come but in my three years here they have not funded judicial externships (I was a judicial extern my 1L summer).

Re: UCLA Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
actually i heard from a 1L I know that they changed that starting now, with summer 2017. i think it may be somewhat less $$ but my friend is doing an externship with a federal judge and they are now giving some funding for that across the board, which apparently most schools don't do. Worth double checking with them, but i am almost sure about this.calmenda wrote:3L @ UCLA here. As a general rule UCLA does not count judicial externships for their summer funding. Not entirely sure yet. My best acceptance is BU, but I'm holding out for a few waitlist as well. UCLA just wasn't something I was willing to put the effort into to get off the waitlist.

Anyone who has not heard back has applied to the David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy as well?

Just got my acceptance call! While I was running, haha!
When/how have people gotten their scholarship information? I am in at USC too, with a ton of money, but UCLA has more of what I want. I am hoping they make it possible for me to choose them!
