idk if there are still waiters here, but checking in to say I just withdrew.

PS to all of you visiting and trying to find alcohol: You're in los angeles. It's everywhere. Lived there for four years. You can get alcohol delivered in 2 hours or less. otherwise, go to a grocery store or a cvs or a walgreens.

Heads up: alcohol sales stop at 2 am, even in grocery stores, but yes, you can buy on sunday

It's was alright.
I wish there was more of an emphasis on fostering bonds between the accepted students. The one real opportunity for people to let their hair down and mingle was the rooftop reception with the student organization tables. There was an open bar, but they shut it all down promptly at 7 or so. I think asw is moreso about subjective factors for me so it was a little disappointing and off-putting. It kind of reinforced a preconceived notion in my head that USC Law doesn't really have a strong campus culture. There also wasn't much to do in the general university area in terms of restaurant and bar options. I'm used to less sprawling east coast cities though.

As for the panels, I hit up all the PI-oriented ones (they were really pushing PI this year as an effort to combat the corporate rep the school has) and they were great. It definitely affirmed my desire to do PI work. I was wowed by Clare Pastore (a PI professor) and really wanted to take classes with her. A 3L PI student named Rebecca Berry was also super helpful. She was candid that PI students have to be go-getters and forge their own path, but that could be true at any/most schools.

So kind of a mixed bag. I could see myself finding opportunities to pursue what I want at USC, but left unsure if the culture (and LA generally) is really for me.
My buddies seemed to really like it though.

I really enjoyed Law Day. My favorite part by far was the BLSA dinner on Thursday night. To Rigo's point about fostering bonds between admitted students, I agree that the main Law Day event on Friday didn't have as much of that, but the BLSA dinner and Diversity Reception definitely did. We definitely had an opportunity to bond with admitted students, current students, and alums and I felt immediately welcomed and at home because of that. I do wish there had been more of that at the actual Law Day, but I think it's probably hard to do well with such a large group without it feeling forced or awkward like "okay everyone, let's do an icebreaker!" The dinner on Thursday was exactly the right size, imo, to interact and it felt authentic and not forced. Definitely made me want to join BLSA as a student.

Second the BLSA dinner. I met all the members and instantly felt welcomed. I met some of the Alumni and they spoke to me about the school. I even met a recruiter form Gibson Dunn. I think that was the extra edge that pushed me over. yeah law day had more events than down time. I really enjoyed the panel on entertainment law and the criminal law class. The clinic talk was interesting as well. All in all I think I really liked law day.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
