Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I think this whole waiting thing will work in our favor. The higher - more qualified - students will have chosen another school due to them waiting so long, and thus allow lower numbers to get in. This is totally made up logic from yours truly to keep from going insane.

I honestly was thinking the same thing, I feel like it'll work in our favor... hopefully

I was also thinking this. I know someone who had UF at the top of her list and had a GPA/LSAT right above the medians, but she had already received offers back from her other applications and was tired of feeling "strung-along" by UF. I'm very interested to see what this long process does for their numbers.Lawschool629 wrote:MOLaw wrote:I think this whole waiting thing will work in our favor. Not even trying to be sarcastic, what if they are taking too long because the admissions staff really does like every single person who applied and will end up accepting every single personMOLaw wrote:I think this whole waiting thing will work in our favor. If anyone from the admissions office happens to be browsing this thread, I'd like to thank you for your hard work in the difficult task of determining the admits for the class of 2020. I will continue to wait patiently and confidently knowing that UF will almost certainly recognize the talents that I would bring to this outstanding institution, and grant me admission.
Cheers,

I take it all the scholarship money is gone by now and everyone that gets in off of the hold will be paying sticker? Please convince me I am wrong.

It seems like you have something on your nose. Maybe you should get that checked out.NorCalOldGuy wrote:If anyone from the admissions office happens to be browsing this thread, I'd like to thank you for your hard work in the difficult task of determining the admits for the class of 2020. LOL .... I can imagine future applicants read through this thread and start to see our sanity spiral downward more and more each day ... we started excited, then irritated from the wait ... now somehow we all are expecting admission ... only the 180 remains for some seeing the end of April is near.MOLaw wrote:It seems like you have something on your nose. "THE UF C/O 2020 WAIT ... now in theatres near you" .
1. Denial and isolation; - I won't be put on "No Decision made!"
2. Anger; HOW AM I ON " NO DECISION MADE?"
3. Bargaining; LOCI here I come
4. Depression; (Current stage)
5. Acceptance.
Except I'm hoping that acceptance is actual acceptance to UF.
Just trying to be funny

Wait, apparently "no decision" is an actual decision? Does that mean I'm expecting a follow up status for no reason????

..Y'all trolling? It's a decision based on the initial review. Underneath that it states "no final decision has been made", take it easy.MOLaw wrote:Where'd you hear that?!brownellewoods wrote:Wait, apparently "no decision" is an actual decision? So I'm looking at LSN and I can imagine the staff is working with very strange numbers this year. A good chunk of their traditional 160/3.5 applicants seem to have withdrew. Now they are working with a lot of splitters and mid range gpa/lsat combos. hmmmmmm

Yes they've lost a lot of qualified candidates. This means I should have a better shot at getting lucky. I would withdraw, but my other options aren't great so here I wait, hoping for a miracle .

Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Just spoke to someone from admissions, no wave today but expect them all throughout next week especially if you submitted by the March 15 priority deadline. BUUUUUUUUT again, they were careful to not be too promising and stated "we hope to have final decisions out by end of April". Also addressing the conspiracy theories as to why they are running behind schedule this year, the person on the phone clarified its because they decided to review the applications differently this year.... whatever that may be.NeverfoundNemo wrote:No idea they just got accepted, I think one posted their stats. Alas, the great wait continues ... but its just for a bit more.

Thanks for checking! At least now I can stop obsessively refreshing ASO, for todaybrownellewoods wrote:Just spoke someone from admissions, no wave today but expect them all throughout next week especially if you submitted by the March 15 priority deadline. Interesting. I wonder what the purpose of their new approach is. If they want to look further than the numbers (gpa, lsat) on some candidates, I wonder if they are accepting the ones with high numbers first and then focusing on getting as many as possible to attend. The more high numbers they get, the more lower numbers they can accept without bringing their average down which unfortunately is always a factor for admissions.

The wait continues . I have heard back from 3 schools, all waitlisted so I am expecting the same, if not worse from Florida.

Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Right? I'm taking a guess that might be what they are doing, MAYBE. If so, extremely fascinating as to why they would take this route seeing how their competitor FSU really stressed about numbers this year (LSN shows how some people waitlisted at Georgetown got flat out rejected by FSU this year... WHAT???).darthlawyer wrote:Interesting. I wonder what the purpose of their new approach is.
