Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I haven't received anything yet. My semester ends tonight, so hopefully I will get an answer this week. I was really expecting to get an answer from them at least before the end of the semester but well, at this point one or two extra days of waiting is fair game.
Fingers crossed for all of you who are still waiting for an answer (and for myself, of course).

I'm also still in "no decision made" limbo. Pretty nervous since my stats are similar to many WL.

Check your statuses 2pm-6pm. That's when they start changing ASO, even yesterday. Mine particularly, I've never received an update before 5pm. I hope that helps someone stop refreshing ASO every 5 mins.law1993 wrote:I'm also still in "no decision made" limbo. Pretty nervous since my stats are similar to many WL.
Also I called Admissions regarding the waitlist,
1) They told me to send an LOCI if I haven't already and to keep it professional. At least one paragraph, no more than one page if you want to get into detail. Multiple LOCI's are not necessary (in ex, sending a new one each month), just do one.
2) The next seat deposit wave is irrelevant to waitlisters, so don't cross your fingers for May 15
3) Getting off the waitlist depends on the cycle.
Overall, I felt more optimistic before the phone call. Something about the conversation made being waitlisted sound like a "dead end" particularly since UF is rolling admissions and as time goes on, the WL becomes more and more irrelevant to them as they find and accept more people. Such a long and brutal cycle. Dissapointing to say the least. I don't know what they did this year, but getting the dead-end this late in the game only has been demoralizing.

In my opinion, If you havent been admitted at this point, you should not be feeling optimistic.

Also, looking at LSN, there are people that got denied from some not so good schools, and they are getting waitlisted by UF... draw your own conclusions on that one...

Someone who got a full ride from UF got denied by FSU... draw you own conclusions from that one. Oh wait, you can't you're as confused as a duck auditioning for a Christmas cartoon. Truth is, you aren't the admissions committee, your words literally have no value on what to expect.NorCalOldGuy wrote:Also, looking at LSN, there are people that got denied from some not so good schools, and they are getting waitlisted by UF... draw your own conclusions on that one...

its too bad you're so confused. its actually really clear what they did this year if you understand the process and the tactic that they are using.brownellewoods wrote:I don't know what they did this yearlaw1993 wrote:I'm also still in "no decision made" limbo. Thank you for the continued PSA's, despite the frustrating news. I know I appreciate them, and I'm sure others feel the same. You'll be an excellent colleague at whichever school you attend. No news for me, still No Decision.

Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm not sure where exactly you're looking but LSN is a year or so behind with their stats. The #'s should be 25th 156 50th 160 75th 161 the numbers posted on lsn are 155 157 160. Those are last years numbers. LSN says they accept 60%, again that was before last years cycle. Last year was around 36%. If you want to see the real numbers here is the link to the aba 2016 actual data. https://www.law.ufl.edu/law/wp-content/ ... Report.pdf and here is the 2015 report https://www.law.ufl.edu/law/wp-content/ ... BA-509.pdfadbbb13 wrote:What I don't get is according to LSN, the 25 and 50 dropped. Why is everyone getting waitlisted?
you'll see that the gpa's also went up. Last year was a strange year for UF because their applications doubled and I haven't been able to find any explanation for it. I've looked at school upon school and can't find another who's apps doubled like that. So, my guess is that this is why they did things differently this year (not really knowing what to expect) because last year they didn't use "no decision made" at all and it was an unpredictable cycle.

OldGuy, one would assume you must completely understand the admissions process since this is not the first cycle for you. Obviously you must be a pro by now. It's too bad you're having to deal with all these "confused" people.NorCalOldGuy wrote:its too bad you're so confused. its actually really clear what they did this year if you understand the process and the tactic that they are using.brownellewoods wrote:I don't know what they did this yearlaw1993 wrote:I'm also still in "no decision made" limbo. Cringing so hard how back in 2008-2009 a 160/3.9 would get dinged from uf

Does anyone have a historical sense of when they admit people off the waitlist, how many, etc?

The historical UF would get WLers off by mid to late May. I can't predict the current application process, they tried something new this yearvivacolonia wrote:Wow.brownellewoods wrote:Cringing so hard how back in 2008-2009 a 160/3.9 would get dinged from uf

So are you saying past years there is a decent amount of WLers that actually get in or is it more of a miracle situation and only one or two get in off of the Wl because of the rolling admission style? I know this year was completely different but it would feel better to at least know what has been typical regarding the WL.brownellewoods wrote:The historical UF would get WLers off by mid to late May. Re: UF c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm not in the position to guess how many of the waitlisters get off the WL, but from what I concluded from surfing previous years the process can drag on until July. This cycle basically "just started" yesterday and so that scares me, previously UF WLed in March and then in May some would get of the list. May is right around the corner for us. To get off the WL by May this year, lots of people would have to make up their minds very quickly.jcapp wrote:So are you saying past years there is a decent amount of WLers that actually get in or is it more of a miracle situation and only one or two get in off of the Wl because of the rolling admission style?
