I got in via call last week, and I'm a bit worried about getting my scholarship in time- I have another deposit due April 1st with a hefty scholarship attached that I'll lose if I don't deposit by then. Is it worth it to email admissions and let them know I've got that coming up, or would that be seen as rude?

Don't say that as the reason. Say something like, "Due to financial reasons, I may not meet the deposit deadline. May I please have an extension." That's what I've read around the forum. They'll likely give you a week or so based on the anecdotes.

Also, scholly info comes in two waves (it did for me at least, and took a total of roughly two weeks). I got an email telling me to sign into CASH and check my package. Received Zero Dollars. Zero. Then received another email about a week later stating I got the in-state exception, plus couple thousand a year. Don't fret!

Have you tried asking for an extension? I hear it works if you give a good enough bullshit excuse. I'd go with funeral for chia pet, and of course, unimaginable mourning and despair at the loss.

I might try asking, even if it's just another week. I wish I had $200 just to burn, but if I'm going to deposit, I want to deposit at the school I'll eventually attend.

For those who visited Austin on a non-asw day, what did you actually do at the school?

I only took a tour (1.5 hours) of the law school with a 1l and then went to go eat at places around the city. If you go early enough during the week you can sit in on a class.

Definitely going to walk around the campus next Friday and look at apartments.

Anyone know if there's a travel stipend for ASW?

My tour was 45 minutes then I attended a class directly after. It was a great experience!

I searched the thread and see someone with similar confusions, but they were usually notified of admittance during the interview. I did a video interview about one week ago and has see no response from them yet....
That's weird af. Call/email and ask but I can't imagine why you wouldn't receive an email.

Don't want to backfire by calling the AO and ask; will this backfire?

To be blunt, a fb invite acceptance doesn't mean shit. Make sure you're actually accepted and can-you know-enroll and stuff come August.
Their email could have just messed up and maybe they don't diligently verify those who request to join.

Initially, I read this wrong. I thought you meant they went out of their way to find you on FB and add you to the group. I forgot about those social media link emails.

You have to apply for it, but was for the first one. It's $300 if you get it. I got it and I don't think my financial situation is exceptional at all, so I'd imagine it's not difficult to get.

I already asked on the C/o 2020 page, but how easy/difficult is it to become a resident/qualify for in-state tuition after 1L?

I've heard it's very hard. Like you need to buy a house hard.

Not trying to discourage you, but it is insanely hard. I became a resident after my first year in undergrad and I had to buy a condo, change my license/car registration/all official documents, open a bank account in TX, and get a job here before they let me become a resident. It's possible and worth it, but also v hard.

Texas is the main thing the state's got going against it.
