The 2019 Harvard thread has a crapload of this info on the OP. I suggest checking it out.

(No, you won't necessarily hear in the first wave, and waves come frequently)
Will do, thanks!

Pretzel is right, and I am unsure what the latest completion date was in the first wave last year (checking out last year's spreadsheet might give you some indication). I would venture a guess that your completion date doesn't preclude you from being first wave because last year I went complete on 10/1 and was in the first wave.

Furthermore, it should be noted that while JS1s on any given day generally come out around the same time, they are not all sent out at once, i.e. at exactly the same time. For instance, last year I saw posts on TLS about JS1s going out, checked my email, and hadn't received an invite. Thirty minutes later I got the email, so if you see people posting about JS1s but don't have one yet, don't count yourself out.
This is very helpful--thanks!

Hehehe
There was a ton of discussion about this in last year's thread, but there was an almost equal amount of shitpoasting/cat pic spamming, so I will keep answering these Qs. For a while they interviewed about 1,000 and accepted a little over 900, so getting an interview was pretty much a formality toward acceptance. A few years back they said that they increased the # of interviews to 1,200 (still admitted the same # of applicants), so now it is less of a formality but still a very good sign (best guess is that approximately 75% of interviewees get accepted). There has been discussion over whether or not the # of interviews has continued to rise, but best guess and general consensus is that they still interview ~1,200 and accept ~900, giving a 75% acceptance rate if interviewed.

ETA: I was responsible for a solid chunk of last year's shitpoasting, so don't take my comments above to be condemnatory
Thank you!

PSA that you all will probably be interested in: 12 interview appointment slots have been added by the HLS admissions team. In previous years this has meant that the first JS1 invites will be going out soon (probably later today). There are 12 slots open and they are on 11/2 and 11/3.

Current 1L at HLS, so the link they sent me to schedule my interview back when I was applying still works (so I can check out interview slots). Last year when I was applying a bunch of people on TLS were super helpful so I wanted pay it back by hopefully providing helpful info/answering questions on this thread.

To that effect, in response to potterotter, interviews are the only thing that will be coming out this early. There shouldn't be any denials/wait lists coming until next calendar year at the earliest.

They probably won't have your app to consider for the first couple waves, but potentially any time after that.

This also seems like a good time to mention (pretzel already alluded to this) that interviews don't go out chronologically by when you submitted. While it definitely helps to get in an early app (before Thanksgiving is usually considered "early") it does not mean you will hear back sooner. The first waves of JS1s/2s generally go to people with very high stats (above both medians and at least one 75th), and then later waves become more inclusive. Some people who applied day 1 didn't get an interview for months and some people who applied in October were in the first wave. So basically don't get down if you get skipped over for a while.

Update on my original PSA, I checked the appointment scheduling website again and they have taken down the slots, so the invites probably won't be going out today. This happened a couple years ago as well and the JS1s were sent out a few days later and the interviews were scheduled on the same dates that the original slots were on. Point being, I may have gotten your hopes up a bit too much, but it's highly likely that the first interviews will be on 11/2-3 and that invites will be going out soon probably before the end of next week)

You can also go through the application spreadsheets from last year's TLSers (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=253919) and see the different timelines of the people who applied around this time last year. For example, there's one applicant who applied on 10/23, got their JS1 request on 11/12, and did their interview on 11/19. There's another candidate who applied on 10/11, got the interview request on 11/3, but waited until 11/18 to interview and then was accepted in the first JS2 wave last year on 12/8.
