Does anyone know if we need to submit the CSS Profile, FAFSA etc. at this time (before an admissions decision is made), or just by the deadline?

Re: Harvard Law c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
We could look at the percentage of TLSers with JS1s that were given JS2s in previous years' spreadsheets. Idk how representative theyll be though - not just because tls might be an unrepresentative sample, but also due to a possible reporting bias for those spreadsheets that favors successful candidates. But besides that I don't think we have any other sources to look to re: acceptance rates for JS1ers. Maybe someone else knows better though.calpolisci2016 wrote:I read that Jessica Soban interview that birthed the "900 out of 1200 people who are interviewed are admitted therefore it's a 75% success rate for JS1" meme.
However I noticed that Jessica said that in 2012 they were aiming for 1200. They very well could've failed to get that number, or have since reverted to the traditional 1000 interviews. This would make the acceptance rate much much higher.
There's probably no further information on this since nothing else has been cited to clarify the acceptance rate for JS1s, but I wanted to see what other people think.

Re: Harvard Law c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
This could very well be true. It's a little strange, though, because nothing in my app has anything to do with group work or facing people with opinions extremely different than mine (at least that I can think of/any more than anyone else's internships and experiences would include those elements). However, I think I answered the questions well, so hopefully they work in my favor anywaySmc1994 wrote: If I'm not mistaken, you're the only one to get those particular questions-- or, perhaps, to report them in the thread. It seems like your interviewer was picking up on a particular aspect of your application, and giving you an opportunity to expound upon, and strengthen, it. If that's the case, then they're reading our apps very carefully, and giving us an opportunity to talk our way into a JS2. Granted, this is all speculation fueled by extreme sleep depravation.

They said in an online info session this year they were interviewing roughly 1200 people so I do not think it has changed.

kiwi-- good to know! I think you're right about that. I've certainly been asked questions like that in job interviews, so it seemed normal in a law school interview, too.

Does anyone have a good sense as to when the last JS1 wave was last year?

Is a JS1 at this point a good thing? Or is it late enough that we're likely WLs?VA2lawschool wrote:At least we don't have to freak out just yet if we haven't gotten one...ashrice13 wrote:Per OP:VapidP wrote:Does anyone have a good sense as to when the last JS1 wave was last year?

Wasn't sure if there was a point at which the majority of people interviewed receive WL or rejections - does anyone else have a (slightly less snarky and/or data-driven) opinion?mrgstephe wrote:Seriously? Re: Harvard Law c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I have no idea on that specific situation, but the point remains - a JS1 is always better than not a JS1...since you can't get admitted without one. Hence a JS1 is *always* a good thing, regardless of when it is received.tomgirl wrote:Wasn't sure if there was a point at which the majority of people interviewed receive WL or rejections - does anyone else have a (slightly less snarky and/or data-driven) opinion?mrgstephe wrote:Seriously? Worrying about likelihoods of WL given time of receiving JS1 is pretty neurotic.

I do not have the numbers for HLS, either. In fact I'm so shocked because I haven't even been browsing this particular thread since I thought HLS is out of my league.
Are interviews pretty chill or are they intended to put the pressure on you?
I got an invitation yesterday and I am also shocked. I am a URM with LSAT well below their 25th percentile and GPA a bit lower than 50th percentile. I guess they must have liked my essays and resume. Good luck to everyone in their interviews and to those who are waiting for their JS1! Make sure to check your spam folder. If I hadn't checked my spam, I would have completely missed the JS1.

Would the wave be tomorrow if that's when their next committee session is? Or are waves usually a day or two later?taxman14 wrote:I feel like it has to be tomorrow...canafsa wrote:The next JS2 wave must be right around the corner, right?

Any re-applicant here that would know if it is just me or has Harvard removed an entire section about ECs from the application?
There used to be a section after full-time employment where one could describe all ECs in previous year applications.
