There's a spot for an addendum on the application. If you want to include a why essay ,that's the place to put it.

My guess is not much. We definitely have a decent chunk of KJDs here. NU definitely values work experience, but I think another reason we tilt towards people who have been out of school for a while is the urban Chicago location and the strength of the JD-MBA program.

I interviewed at the school last year with an adcom. It was very relaxed and informal; the conversation revolved around “tell me whats not on your resume.” Some questions were more straightforward, but we mostly talked sports and music.

I think it varies though from person to person and depending on who interviews you (student or adcom or alumni) .

Online interviews weren’t fun.

Just stalked through last cycle's admissions page and saw most off-campus interviews were on the easy side. Here's a list of frequent questions I saw pop up on the forum:

1. Why Chicago?
2. What other law schools did you apply to? (And defend those answers.)
3. What's not on your resume that you think I should know?
4. Why NU?
5. Why did you enter a field other than law out of college? (And for those who don't have work experience, be prepared to sell why you should still be let in.)
6. Why law?
7. Be able to go through all your resume blurbs and talk about each experience.

Hi, i'm applying here mostly as a means to negotiate scholarship at lower ranked schools. With that said, do you know how negatively my chances will be affected, if at all, if I opt out of interviews?

Hi, i'm applying here mostly as a means to negotiate scholarship at lower ranked schools. With that said, do you know how negatively my chances will be affected, if at all, if I opt out of interviews?

The interviewer was straightforward about not knowing how much his interview review would contribute to the overall admissions process. However, Northwestern is the only T14 school that has non-invite only interviews as part of the process so I would assume they are weighted heavily. My interview was very informal and provided a lot of value. I don't think there is much to lose from setting one up but depends on your situation (LSAT/GPA, location, etc.).

Does anyone know what their policies are on materials for reapplicants? I can't find it on their website. What can/can't stay the same? My 2 LORs would be the same, since I just got them last winter, but I have a new PS (same story, just revamped) and am adding a diversity statement.

I am a reapplicant. I was waitlisted and stayed on the waitlist until the first day of school. I just resent them everything.

The answer to this question depends entirely on where the school stands in your rankings. If it's one of your top choices, then why not do everything you could to improve your chances, if not, then the answer is obvious. HTH

I know NU cares about work experience, but does it matter what kind of work experience it is? for some reason I keep picturing a typical NU student as having some cool high-skill job previous to enrolling.
