Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Hey, did everyone who got a Decision letter receive this email "The Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application for Admission. To view your decision, please login to our Status Check Webpage. Your decision letter will be available after 6:00PM CST time today."?
I ask because I was WL'ed on Tuesday and didn't get any emails, but today I received this one. Is it possible that they already dinged/accepted me off the WL or is it just a late email?

There is a lag between the decision letter and the email

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Thanks, but is a 4-day lag ok? Or is it possible that I'll be dinged after 6pm CTS? (I'm assuming the worse cause there's no deposit fees in my Status Checker, and I'm just that paranoid, still not really believing my reach school WLed me, instead of just rejecting me outright.. I guess I'm sort of waiting for them to realize they sent me the wrong letter )MadamSecretary wrote:There is a lag between the decision letter and the email

4 day lag is normal this late in the cycle, they probably upload all of the decisions at once and send individual emails afterwords (my best guess), and they wouldn't have made a decision after wait listing you that quickly... I am a reverse splitter and they were my reach school, I was waitlisted as well. Something about you must have caught their eye, do not assume the worst!!

I don't even have a second complete date. I am starting to believe they lost my app.

I'm officially joining team "The scholarship essays are the WORST"
I think part of it is admissions cycle burnout where I just want to be done and not have to keep doing things to find out where I'm going to be in the fall, like if I had been doing this a couple months ago this would have been easier but honestly I don't know why but writing about why I deserve aid (especially from a merit standpoint) was so difficult.

+1 I'm hoping we'll find out later this week/early next week. It'd be nice to know how big the wave was so we know how many people they have to read throughcftvgybhu wrote:hands up! i just sent the submissions on Monday, do you know how long usually between an ad with the $$ ?xandra_v wrote:Anyone else in last week's wave waiting on financial aid info?

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
So I emailed them because I have another deposit deadline coming up soon, and they seemed to indicate that the scholarship committee was meeting mid-late this week and would notify people after that. Though I don't know what their "cutoff" is for what apps are reviewed at that meeting (I sent mine in literally the day after I was admitted, haha). I would guess late this week or early next; but I could be totally wrong.cftvgybhu wrote:hands up! i just sent the submissions on Monday, do you know how long usually between an ad with the $$ ?xandra_v wrote:Anyone else in last week's wave waiting on financial aid info?
I'm mostly stressed out about how there's no way to predict what they might give...LSN data seems all over the place.

Has anyone else who was in the recent admit wave submitted an appeal for "NU Independent" status (ie financially independent from parents)? Wondering how long that process takes...

Re: Northwestern c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I did! It was super fast once I sent in the documents. They asked like two questions and then granted it the same day. But I think it helped that I had emailed Admissions with a separate question and mentioned my appeal; they replied and CC'd the financial aid folks, which might have moved everything along...jazzybean wrote:Has anyone else who was in the recent admit wave submitted an appeal for "NU Independent" status (ie financially independent from parents)? Ok thanks! That is helpful. I also cc'd someone at admissions because the scholarship application was due already and I wanted them to know that I was still waiting for an appeal response. Anyway - hoping I'll hear back really soon.xandra_v wrote:I did! It was super fast once I sent in the documents. They asked like two questions and then granted it the same day. Can you speak a little more about this? Should I just email admissions directly and ask to appeal?jazzybean wrote:Ok thanks! That is helpful.
