Wait, you guys posted Thursday, but you got in Wednesday right? So maybe there could be another wave today...
Yea I received the email last night. Looks like 43% of offers have been made: 113 people have been invited/joined the fb group, and 260 offers were made last year.

Not exactly tho. a decent amount (maybe 10?) of those in the fb group were deferrals from last year (like myself). and another couple are admissions officer. I think there have been closer to 100 offers

Well hot damn. Whatever the number is, it's definitely a lot more than the dozen or so admits bopping around on the interwebz. I figured that would be the case but not to this degree.

All of these "Y admits" being "too busy being Olympians" to even know that LSN exists.

Recieved this on 12/19: "We have received notification from LSAC that you have submitted an application to Yale Law School. We should receive your application from LSAC within one week and we will begin processing it at that time.[...]."

Thanks!
They don't have a status checker. Although they will email you when your file goes complete
Do we know if time to complete varies with numerical strength? Obviously before you are complete they probably can't see your essays or anything, but it's possible LSAC sends them the numerical information such that they can pull down and start reviewing "more competitive" applicants first. I, of course, have no clue how the process works, but I've been wondering if something like that could explain the differences in how long it takes certain people to go complete.
I strongly doubt there's any connection between numbers and time it takes to go complete.
I agree. But I'm not sure it's based entirely on when the apps are submitted. YLS is the only school at which I'm still incomplete, and checking the admissions results spreadsheet, there are people who applied after me who are already complete.

Also I know Yale says applying late doesn't impact your chances but I don't really understand how that can be true if half the spots are already given away? Unless they really just fill up the very top of their class first?

From Asha's blog:

Our admissions process takes longer than most schools, because we involve our entire faculty in the admissions process. I've described the admissions process here. As anyone who's been to law school can attest, it's hard enough to get a professor to turn in grades, let alone a stack of 50 admissions files. Multiply that by 60 and you have my reasons for wanting to fling myself out a window from about December through April. Seriously, though, while our process is time-consuming, it does ensure that every application is read very thoroughly, regardless of grades and LSAT scores, by up to 6 readers (which includes me and in tough cases, my entire admissions staff). So we don't make any decision lightly.

As a result of our process, your chances of admission are the same regardless of when you apply. Many applicants will hear within a couple of months of applying, but applicants who go through the full round of faculty review, as well as applicants who apply later in the season, may not hear until late March or early April, when most of our final decisions are made.

I read Hillbilly Elegy on a plane from Minneapolis to Phoenix last night, and I came to a sobering realization: I'm never getting into Yale.

(BTW, it's a great book.)

one of my best friends applied to a Yale PhD program & received an interview request today.
I lowkey considered throwing a hail mary but then got bored and ate a bag of baked cheetos instead.
I'm not writing a single additional essay - unless it's for $$$.

the bag of cheetos was awesome.

Not even kidding I applied because of that book. I'm a poor white trash kid who went to a state UG on a full ride. Now I just need the Yale JD to be him

I went complete early this morning. I'm ready for my ding! I don't have a chance in hell, but I threw in an application anyway because I would regret it if I didn't. My GPA is good, but not Yale good. My LSAT is meh in general and nowhere near Yale numbers. My softs are strong, but they aren't even Yale average. My only connection to the school is that one of my LoRs is from my professor who graduated from Yale Law. I had to try, though.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
