Anyone else get invited to the admissions event in DC? Is this a LSAT/GPA type of invite or is it a larger group?

I got emails from two different groups of schools and their events are on the same night .

got the same two invites and I'm pretty torn about which event to attend. the nyu/duke/stanford email was definitely written to make it sound more exclusive than the chicago/michigan/penn one, which makes me think maybe the latter would be a better idea

I can say for certain that at the Penn/Michigan/Chicago event they are going to do a very thorough and I think illuminating review of applications and admission -- and how the former influences the later. I know this because I talk with these peeps! I'm sure the other event is dandy too, I just do not know anything about it.

Just out of curiosity, do any schools give retroactive refunds? I didn't think this was a thing. But I submitted my U Chicago app the other day, like, 6 hours before I got the fee waiver e-mail -- last month I'd asked about fee waivers and was just referred to the policy stated on their webpage -- so that would be kind of nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

I got one from W&M last cycle, but I've also seen some schools explicitly state that they don't give refunds.

Hmm. How did you phrase your e-mail asking for a retroactive refund? Or did they issue it automatically?

"I applied to W&M Law not too long ago and paid the full application fee. I have noticed in some law school fee waiver emails that if a prospective student had already paid the fee the law school will refund the student. Is W&M Law able to offer me the same refund, and if so, what is the best way to receive my application fee?"

I think they refunded it to my card, but they might have sent a check. I don't really remember.

The instructions in the application make it seem like the two page maximum is more of a suggestion than a hard cap. I'm currently at 2 and 1/3 pages and was wondering if it would be better to try to cut out at least 5-6 lines and risk losing quality or just leave it. Advice?

I'm not an admissions expert by any means, but I always vote for quality's sake (especially since it's only a few additional lines)

5-6 lines over? pull the old "find" and "replace" trick. Reduce the font size of your periods and commas by one or two sizes. Also go to paragraph settings and "remove space before (and after) paragraph" Good luck

I think they phrase it as a suggestion because they're nice. I can tell you that editing your writing to fit within a page limit is something you'll have to do a lot of at law school, as is following instructions. I don't have any specific inside knowledge, but I would strongly advise against going over the limit.

If you have stats at/above the 25ths you'll prob get one.

Is this the way it typically goes for all the schools? And by "apply early" are we saying start the application on lsac or have it completed and submitted?
