My envelope was as underwhelming as my $105k offer. At/above both 75ths. I'm thankful, but based on last cycle my stats consistently got $120k. It looks like the application cycle might be stronger relative to last year. I'm looking on LSN, and I only see two $120k+ offers that aren't URM. One of them has worse stats than mine (marginally). I could be wrong about the cycle being stronger though. Maybe I just missed out on the $120k, because I didn't write the DKL essay/show high enough interest.

So if the seat deposit boxes don't show immediately when the decision is made, does that mean ding/WL? Is there ever a slight delay? Looks like not writing those supplementals may have cost me!

Yeah, you're definitely right (changed username to PurplePumpkin btw, because I didn't want it to exactly match my TLS username). My cycle has been amazing, but I'm exceptionally debt-adverse and don't know what my goals (i.e. PI or firm) are, which is perhaps the worst combo. That means I'm carefully considering all the schools I've applied to.

With a 35k per year scholarship and a bunch of other soft factors, NDLS is probably where I will end up - does anyone have any perspective on the best housing options? Especially info on rent/quality?

As far as South Bend housing goes, there is:

1. FOG (Fischer / O'Hara-Grace), which is on campus and for graduate students only. FOG lacks a dishwasher, no in-unit laundry, must share a bathroom, can be furnished, and no covered parking. $630/mo., all-inclusive.
2. Overlook at ND, which is off campus (but adjacent) and for graduate students/faculty only. Relatively new, SS appliances, in-unit laundry, private bathroom (or shared if you want a roommate), can be furnished, and no covered parking. $900-$1500/mo., all inclusive.
3. Foundry, which is off campus (but adjacent) and for all people 21+. Relatively new, SS appliances, in-unit laundry, private bathroom, unfurnished, and covered parking. $1300+/mo., utilities not included.
4. Lots of apartments nearby
5. Lots of rental houses nearby

I looked hard and chose #2.

Hey thanks a lot! Is your Overlook lease year round/do they allow subletting in the summer? Same question for on campus/Foundry if you happen to know? My own research leads me to believe the answer is you are on the hook for summer in off-campus housing, and for the nicer buildings there is no subletting but I'm not totally sure.

I am still waiting on WUSTL admissision/offer but I'm not entirely sure it will be higher than the offer I have already from NDLS (although I know WUSTL would be a better negotiating tool than UIUC or Iowa). Is it fine to send the online negotiation form in this week or should I hold off?

It should be okay to hold off. They said they don't start scholarship appeal processes until March. I would wait for WUSTL at least. They gave me more than 3 times what ND gave me.

Definitely wait for WUSTL. I've seen current NDLS students say WUSTL was an effective negotiation tool for them with Notre Dame.

My lease is a one-year lease that extends through the summer, even though I plan on working outside of South Bend during 1L summer. I'm unsure about subletting, as it wasn't really a factor in my decision. Some off-campus housing options do allow for 9-month leases, but it's becoming increasingly rare, especially at this stage in the cycle. Maybe make a few quick calls tomorrow - good luck.
