Yes. To those who got the waitlist email - if you want to stay on the waitlist and sent a LOCI a few months back, are you replying at all?

Makes it seem like they only want you to reply if you don't want to stay on the waitlist.

Did this email give any indication to deposit numbers/class size?

I don't plan on replying to the email (I agree, the vibe does seem to express they only want to hear from those rescinding).

Wondering the same thing - I sent my LOCI the last day in February and went for a visit at the beginning of this month, but am questioning if I give another update...

Anyone have any idea when we're supposed to hear back from the waitlist? LSN looks like nobody that was waitlisted has heard yet.

Paid first deposit but just withdrew my app to BU Law with a moderate scholarship. Good luck to those on the waitlist!

WUSTL *smacked upside the head by adcom* I mean WashU!

BU I think would have been great for my professional goals. They weren't able to play ball in scholarship negotiations, though, so the gap in COA ended up being enormous.

Hoping I can get some advice here from other people who've committed to BU but are waitlisted elsewhere -
In house hunting in Boston, I learned you'll most likely be on the hook for the rent even if you break the lease and pay the related penalty; ie - if you get off another school's waitlist and break the lease, you'll still have to pay rent until the unit is rented. This seems like an exorbitant fee, on top of all the deposits you have to pay Boston landlords.

I know waitlists are a long shot and I'm prepared for all the $$$ I'll lose in the process (flights, school deposit, etc), but this housing thing seems like a significant issue; if I break a lease in late Aug, who knows when the unit will get rented again?! At this point, I'm assuming my options are:
1. sign a Boston lease and just be prepared to pay up $$$$ in case I get off the waitlist
2. wait to hear back re waitlist (luckily, the first day of class for waitlisted school is before BU orientation) and if I don't get off the waitlist, move into whatever is available

The second option is unappealing bc it's very much possible that there will be nothing available but the first is unappealing bc I can't be certain of the costs involved..

Does anyone know of other options for me or have any suggestions? Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm sorta in the same boat. I did just sign a lease though because I just needed to get on with it and the WL chances seemed to be very slim for me. Not sure what I'll do if I do get in off a WL at this point.

Honestly the Boston housing market is tough- decent apartments fill up fast and months ahead of time. For reference my landlord always asks me in February if I plan on resigning my September lease, because if not he wants to start showing it to potential renters that far in advance. What I did was sign the lease, but spoke to my landlord about his sublet policy (which wasn't specified in the lease). We ended up having him add an addendum to the lease allowing us to sublet if needed.

I would recommend signing a lease now if you find something that fits your needs (like I said in Boston the good places tend to go fast), but definitely check with the landlord and/or possible roommates about their sublet policy. Usually you will be on the hook for rent until it's subletted should you need to move, but Boston's rental market is in such high demand I have no doubt you would find somebody relatively quickly.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. I live close to BU so I know about the area. Boston is a great city, but in my opinion housing costs and the competition is the worst thing about the city. Maybe I'll see you at BU!
