I've sent letters out to schools before getting responses, they are basically why x statements that I didn't write the first time. I don't feel this is inappropriate, but that's just my opinion. I feel that as I continue to do more research, certain schools are becoming more attractive than others and I am writing to show I am still excited/more excited to possibly attend the school in question.addie1412 wrote:I started to do this but the "short email" started to turn into letter length and the content seemed very much like a LOCI, so I'm tempted to go ahead and send one. Do you think this would be an inappropriate time?guybourdin wrote:You can cheat and just send an updated resume and a short email, saving your first formal LOCI in case of a waitlist!addie1412 wrote:
Anyone think this would be an appropriate time for a LOCI? I got a new job since sending out my application, but I'm not sure if it'd be better to hold off on a LOCI in case I get waitlisted.

I also have that delay, as does someone else who submitted at the same time as us. I emailed, they are just delayed in processing but if u want to check in in a week or so I'd say that's justifiedtreetops_rising wrote:So I applied mid December and got the "application received" email on 12/20.
Still no link to the status checker
How soon before I start freaking out? I'm obviously not gonna contact admissions because it does say that it could take several weeks, but it's still frustrating.
Anyone else still waiting for their status checker?

Does not choosing Summer start for admissions lower your chances of acceptance? I only chose Fall and am heavily regretting it. I really want a Michigan acceptance. Any thoughts?

I meant particularly early, like September or October. Like I don't view just before Thanksgiving as deserving of an email thanking me for my patience.armc808 wrote:Anything submitted pre-Thanksgiving is early, even if it doesn't sound like it on TLS.ReadyToStart wrote:Just got an email from Michigan and I was really excited. I am curious though if this was an automated email or if it was sent to specific applicants, just because they mentioned a few times how I applied particularly early in the cycle, which I did not. I didn't apply until Mid-Late November, and I was just curious if everybody else who's waiting on a decision got this email?

I mean, regarding this whole email thing, I think it just goes to show that Spivey wasn't wrong when he said this cycle is pushing out decisions at a slower pace than usual. I don't imagine they'd be shooting everyone emails unless they weren't expecting to have such a slow cycle decision-wise.

Apparently Dean Z has one sent out every January to students who 1) have had their applications read by at least one adcom and 2) haven't been given a final decision; it's just one of those things Michigan does and doesn't appear to be cycle-specific.brinicolec wrote:I mean, regarding this whole email thing, I think it just goes to show that Spivey wasn't wrong when he said this cycle is pushing out decisions at a slower pace than usual. They're just trying to be transparent and respectful of the fact that there is much anxiety over decisions.ReadyToStart wrote:I meant particularly early, like September or October. Re: Michigan c/o 2020 applicants (2016-17)
Trying to determine best course of action. Got the "sorry for the wait" email yesterday. LSAT right above 25th, GPA right below 50th. Based on what I'm seeing on LSN, with my numbers I should be a reject. But I think my work experience is keeping me in the game. I did two supplemental essays but not Why Michigan.
Do I do a Why Michigan now? Do I get another LOR? I submitted two originally.

Do they send an email if an applicant is awarded no scholarship money? I was admitted mid December and it's been more than 2-3 weeks (even with the holiday break). I know they might just be busy this time of year too, but it seems that everyone is getting $$$ offers relatively on-time. Anyone admitted before break still waiting?

I only submitted two and was admitted. I don't think LORs do much.
Maybe a Why Mich would help but it's hard to know

Me. I was admitted in early December and am still waiting. I'm pretending it just means that they aren't sure whether or not they want to interview me for the Darrowlemon-lyman wrote:Do they send an email if an applicant is awarded no scholarship money? Admitted on 12/9 and still waiting. Per the Admitted Students Facebook page, they DO let you know if you are not receiving any aid. However, I'm also getting nervous with all this waitinglemon-lyman wrote:Do they send an email if an applicant is awarded no scholarship money? I'd probably sit tight. I think people on TLS generally overstate the importance of supplemental essays unless you get waitlisted or are way above a school's medians (aka, preventing YP).pantsuitchic wrote:Trying to determine best course of action. Also in via email in today's group of admits!
GPA > 75th, 25th < LSAT < 50th.
I submitted 11/14 and went complete after a little over four weeks.
