Yes. Once the app opens it will specify exactly what they would like you to include. I used the same resume for all of my apps, excluding Yale.

I saw your LSN numbers and was blown away. Congratulations, sir. What did you do different for your Yale resume?

Yale requires an "activities sheet" that is more comprehensive than a resume. You can submit a resume for Yale as well, but it is not required (and rather redundant) with the activities sheet. My resume was one page, focusing on my most important and relevant jobs and internships. I think that my activity sheet 2 pages, maybe 2.5.

How's everyone's app prep coming? For those of you applying ASAP, there's about a week and a half left until the apps open!

So how serious are they about the req for an academic LOR? Like I might be able to get one from someone who doesn't really remember me that says that I got an A, but it seems like a waste of time for me, the professor and the law school

I'm not 100% sure. I know that Yale is SERIOUS about having an academic rec, regardless of how long you've been out of school, but I'm not sure if any other LSs are. Unfortunately, I didn't inquire about it when I spoke to deans of admissions because I'm a 2016 grad. If no one can provide you with an answer on here, I'd say just call the admissions office and ask.

Good to know about Yale, thanks for the information. I'll probably just call them and see what they have to say.

Dang, that sucks; I can't think of any one that could write me one to be honest

I graduated in Dec. 2015 (and it says include an employer rec. if graduating in 2015), but it also says no employer rec. required if applying within 1 year of graduation, which I am. I've already submitted my application and didn't use an employer letter. I hope I'm safe.

So basically someone who isn't K-JD, is REQUIRED to have WE during their year off if they want a shot at C?

From the application instructions:
"Candidates completing their undergraduate degrees in either 2016 or 2017: We require applicants currently in school or recently graduated (i.e., applying within less than approximately one year of receiving their degree) to submit two academic letters from faculty who can provide insight about their candidacy. Academic letters must come from individuals who have taught applicants in the classroom or have evaluated applicants in a significant academic capacity (e.g., an independent study project or thesis advisor).
•Candidates who completed their undergraduate degrees in 2015 and earlier: Applicants with substantive work experience who are not recent graduates must submit one professional letter and at least one academic letter of recommendation.
Candidates who think they may jeopardize their employment status by requesting professional letters of recommendation may submit an academic letter of recommendation instead and should include a brief addendum explaining why they have not included a professional letter of recommendation."

I'm glad that they actually want me to submit a professional rec, I think it is way more valuable to me than my Prof's LOR, but most schools seem more interested in the academic ones :)

I agree. Most schools seem to emphasize academic over professional if possible.

from a 1L:

"Talked to the Columbia Dean at the 1L reception tonight and asked her about medians. She didn't give me specifics but she told me our median went up. This means we have at least a 172, which puts our median above the 75th for NYU. (which is what we really care about)"
