Do they ever send acceptance letters on Fridays? Or when it's sunny outside? Or on even-numbered days of the month?

Was admitted yesterday, trying to send my CSS. Do we have to pay the fee or does Columbia fin aid office give us a code to waive it?

Not yet, I am almost certain we won't hear anything until after the March 27th deadline for LoCIs mentioned in the letter.tinycatfriend wrote:anyone placed on hold heard anything yet?

Any idea what it means if we have heard nothing? I have seen people with worse numbers than me who applied later (I applied late Dec) get acceptances, holds, and waitlists.

No one really knows. I applied in October, someone else here applied in September. Have to assume we will find out relatively soon if we haven't been placed on hold...I'm kind of expecting a WL at this point, don't think my numbers are straight rejection numbersParisHilton wrote:Any idea what it means if we have heard nothing? I'm pretty sure you should pay the fee.circa wrote:Was admitted yesterday, trying to send my CSS. Do we have to pay the fee or does Columbia fin aid office give us a code to waive it?

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
I was reserve listed at Columbia last week and am thinking about having the owner of the company I've worked at for the past 5 years write a LOR since he has a MBA from Columbia. (for my initial application I had my manager write a LOR as he has more personal experience with me). FYI I do have daily contact with the owner, as it is a small but well established company, but it is finance/technology related company and not law. Any advice about the effectiveness/usefulness of this additional LOR would be greatly appreciated!

Going to just be honest, I don't know that it would help. The MBA program has oversight from an entirely different committee of people (despite sharing a nice building ). While it's nice that your recommender was and is a part of the Columbia community at large, I'm not so sure that they can adequately testify to your abilities as a law student who can succeed specifically at Columbia Law.JC2017 wrote:I was reserve listed at Columbia last week and am thinking about having the owner of the company I've worked at for the past 5 years write a LOR since he has a MBA from Columbia. Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
Thanks, that's exactly the kind of response I'm looking for. After all, he is very busy running a company, and while I'm sure he'd be happy to write a LOR for me I don't want to waste his time if it won't help. Any other opinions are still helpful!mm2368 wrote:Going to just be honest, I don't know that it would help. Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
No worries. I think you should also ask him whether he knows anyone in the alumni community for the law school; that could prove valuable in the sense that he could connect you with someone to answer your questions, assuage some of your concerns, and maybe even provide you with fodder for a new LOCI in the summer (you could talk about how your experience meeting with x alumnus reinforced your interest etc)JC2017 wrote:Thanks, that's exactly the kind of response I'm looking for.
