Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
New month, new poll! (Or, revisiting an old poll to compare/contrast with December's results.)
Alright friends...it's been an honor and a privilege being your UVA 2020 applicants OP. This will be my final monthly poll update. If anyone needs anything in this thread, do a call in to get my attention, because I probably won't be monitoring much anymore. I'll be around TLS, but my attention will be mostly in the lounge, in the legal employment threads and in the admitted students thread.
Looking forward to seeing/meeting UVA Law c/o 2020 in the fall. To everyone that's been participating over the last year...it's been fun and good luck no matter where you end up.
Cheers!

So timely applicants are guaranteed a decision by April 15th and 1/3 of the poll responders are ghosted? Seems improbable that they could still be doing interviews, has to be another big wave coming right?

They could still do interviews in this time considering how informal they are.
I've seen people get a 1 day turn around to set up the interview and then get accepted at the end of it

Can anyone who went to ASW speak to the "fratty" culture of UVA? I've narrowed it down to here and one other school, but I keep hearing about that stereotype at UVA, and I'm wondering how real it actually is... Went to school in the South where greek life was big. Don't really care if it's part of the culture, just wondering if it's the MAIN vibe of the student body.

The law school is a couple miles from the undergrad campus. The housing nearby consists of grad students and families, so I wouldn't say greek life is big. I have heard going to bars and little parties here and there is common, but I think that's fairly universal among law schools.magdalena92 wrote:Can anyone who went to ASW speak to the "fratty" culture of UVA? UVA undergrad is definitely fratty, but the law school is not. I would use the word "clubby" for the law school, i.e., very friendly with a good mix of academics and large and small social events of all types.ray.bee wrote:The law school is a couple miles from the undergrad campus. So do we have to tell them if we want to remain on the wl or do they just assume that is the case? Doesn't even mention anything about it in my email.

April was always one of my favorite months. Nothing like spring and the upcoming promise of summer...
Then law school admissions happened and it became the month of certain waitlist doom. Happy national waitlist month everyone. Waitlists for everyone!
