I just got offered an interview after no movement since 2/6!!!!! I am so so happy, even though this doesn't necessarily mean much, I have had bad news for 6 weeks and even being offered an interview is a glimmer of good luck I need.

The interview is with Grace Cleveland- can someone tell me what to expect, questions and vibe wise, and what this maybe means chances wise?

First: Congrats! Interviews are definitely a good thing.

Second: Everyone on the admissions staff is awesome. From what I've gathered (including my own interview experience), interviews with Grace tend to be a little shorter than with Chris or Dean Faulk (so maybe it will be more structured/methodical than their interviews). Vibe is almost always friendly/conversational with their staff.

Chances: I don't know, but most people hear decisions pretty quickly after interviews, so you shouldn't have to wait too long to find out.

Thank you!!!! Any reason why Skype would be better than phone call? I think I would prefer a phone call, but if anyone has any advice on that I'd appreciate it.

psychologically speaking, having a face to go with your name almost always produces more favorable outcomes.

You can smile, look presentable, have body language, etc. also for me she knew I took off work to interview and thanked me, so that's apparent with a video as well

FWIW I opted for a phone call instead of Skype and was admitted at the end of the call. You probably have the potential to make a better impression through Skype, but I also think you somewhat limit the damage you can cause by a bad interview if there's no video component.

Has anyone had any luck negotiating merit aid with UVA? I really want to attend, but they wouldn't budge when I tried negotiating with Michigan's offer :?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
