Just curious what your thoughts are on picking between sticker at Chicago and just a 75k scholarship to a t13gargleblaster wrote:I just can't imagine that Chi at sticker will be better than one of my other offers.mrgstephe wrote:Legitimate question here. I also would just feel like a chump in class next to the 15% of chi students that are on full rides. Oh you're getting a full scholarship just because you had a slightly better UGPA than me? I just dont see the degree begin worth $300,000+ more than another elite school "ranked lower" than them.

I submitted a Why UChicago essay on 3/12 and was accepted via email today. Has anyone else been admitted off the waitlist already after submitting a Why UChicago Essay? I am certainly not complaining, as UChicago was my top choice--I really just thought that they didn't start accepting people off of the waitlist until April.

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Hey, I just got waitlisted by Chicago which is extremely surprising to say the least. Does anybody have any advice as to how to increase my chances of getting off the waitlist? I know the LOCI would help, but Chicago says they would also accept a 2 pg. essay stating why Chicago is right for me. Caveat is I briefly mentioned in my personal statement why I liked the school but I feel like could have mentioned more. Also is it true that people repeatedly call the admissions office when they are waitlisted and keep on reiterating their interest? Wouldn't that annoy the office staff? Sometimes schools don't even ask for my name lol do I just give it to them and say hey Im interested? I'm probably making a mountain out of a non existent mole hill but any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

In via email this afternoon! I'm very confused because I got waitlisted about a month ago, but I did submit a two-page letter and updated transcripts after that. GPA > 75th, 25th < LSAT < 50th. I interviewed at the end of January.

Does anyone know how late in the cycle Chicago awards Rubies? I tried looking through some previous years; best I could tell, they had all been given out by this point.

don't do sticker if you have $$ at another T13. for those who are considering it, why? MAYBE if you really want to practice in Chicago and your other options won't get you there (but if you're in here you prob got $$$ at NU) and MAYBE if you REALLY want to clerk. but that's all I can really think of. but I'm also an 0L. but congrats!dasq5511 wrote:I'm in almost the exact same position as you, not sure what I'm going to do. Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
You just want me to go to Duke I got WLed at NU Honestly, Chicago is now the closest school to where I live where I've gotten in, so it has the geographical bump from me in that I would still be able to see my family and friends. I REALLY don't want to work in NYC, but aside from that my preferences would probably realistically be Charlotte firms at NYC payscale followed by Chicago firms. So it's in my second preferred marketproteinshake wrote:don't do sticker if you have $$ at another T13. for those who are considering it, why? I guess it depends on your goals, inclinations, preferences etc.chargers21 wrote:Just curious what your thoughts are on picking between sticker at Chicago and just a 75k scholarship to a t13gargleblaster wrote:I just can't imagine that Chi at sticker will be better than one of my other offers.mrgstephe wrote:Legitimate question here. You said you're from Chicago, want to stay, and didn't get into NU. If 75k is the best the other t13 can do, i could definitely see Chicago as a better option. It's still a shitload of debt, but if you're ok on working biglaw for a long time/chilling in a gov job that you can't leave, then i could see the debt being no issue.
Based on only those things, I'd pick Chi over the random t13 with a 75k discount.
Like even if its Columbia with a 75k discount, with COL differences and whatnot i'd imagine that'd be pretty close $$ wise and notably inferior in every other way.

Re: Chicago C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I'm only near-ish Chicago, so I'd still have to get an apartment there if that mattered in your calculation. I went into the cycle genuinely planning on attending Northwestern at a sizeable discount, but that didn't really pan out. And I am kind of in love with my next best option, which has great employment outcomes, but might force me to work in NYC if I want to practice what I'm interested in. I really don't want to live in NYC, in spite of how in love with the city 90% of people on here seem to begargleblaster wrote:I guess it depends on your goals, inclinations, preferences etc.chargers21 wrote:Just curious what your thoughts are on picking between sticker at Chicago and just a 75k scholarship to a t13gargleblaster wrote:I just can't imagine that Chi at sticker will be better than one of my other offers.mrgstephe wrote:Legitimate question here. So I read somewhere that Chicago requires parental info on the FAFSA in order to be considered for need aid. Is that true?

If you're under 29 you have to fill out the parent info. (Which was a huge pain because it's the only school I had that required it.)chargers21 wrote:So I read somewhere that Chicago requires parental info on the FAFSA in order to be considered for need aid. Is that true?
