Would it look bad to leave it blank?

Would it be okay to answer because all the schools I'm applying to are columbia and the ones ranked lower than Uchi?

I can understand why cornell would want people to tell them, since a lot of people who are overqualified blanket the t14 and apply to cornell, but it doesn't make as much sense for uchi.
Just be honest. That's the ethically correct thing to do and it's not a big deal anyway.
I mean, leaving it blank is an option since it's not even required. Ethics would only come into play if someone was going to lie. Plus it is easy to argue that it is more fucked up for a school to ask what other schools someone is applying to in order to protect their yield.

On the additional demographics it asks if we are the first one in our family to attend college, technically my older brother was the first one to attend a few years before me. But he dropped out after three years, and I was the first to graduate. How should I answer this question?

My guess is you'd say no because he did attend, and attend is the word in question. But I'd probably send UChi's admissions a quick email asking for clarification just in case.

You could always write a short (very short) addendum.

I wouldn't worry about the "other schools" thing, they ask so they can keep track of who their competition is (and so they can sell you on UChi). I definitely wouldn't worry about yield protection based on you listing higher-ranked schools. They know that people apply to HYS! :)

i'm filling in the app now - what do you all press regarding if you want the committee to consider need when determining scholarship awards?

Would this delay any scholarship awarded at/right after acceptance? Could this hurt me at all to click yes? I'm a paralegal with some money saved up from living at home, and my parents are not contributing.

I'm wondering this as well. I know I can't expect much need-based aid, but I'd like to maximize any possible money. Is there a downside to checking this box (i.e. a delay)?

FWIW, i'm probably going to put yes. I can't find any info on this online, which suggests that it might not be a big deal.

also dont listen to the administration over ASW when they take you to Gino's East and don't listen to the Hyde Parkers that tell you Giordanos is good. Neither are good representations of Chicago pizza.

I prefer Pequods way up in Lincoln Park but Lou Malnati's I think is the classic and certainly a defensible choice.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
