Hey y'all. Sorry if this comes across as a noob question, but what are the NYU app stages?
Are they "complete," "under review," "under review 2" and then the decision?
Thanks!

Yeah, but what is NYU's angle here? Why do they have such a high acceptance rate compared to the other T14s? Their yield rate is really poor as a result. What does NYU look for in their applicants that leads them to be so accepting, and why do so many admitted students fail to declare?proteinshake wrote:I mean I think it's properly ranked. the more important thing is that NYU has better employment stats than the T14 schools below it.zeglo wrote:So does that mean NYU is overrated, or underrated? I think it's due to its competition with Columbia Law.

Yeah, I bet it's to Columbia and to a lesser extent money at Cornell. They are 3 schools all focused on the same market so I'm sure there is overlap in acceptances because if a student applies to one of the three they are probably going to apply to the other two.Thelaw23 wrote:calpolisci2016 wrote:Yeah, but what is NYU's angle here? I really shoulda gone to the one last Friday but my friend was in town
Also is wanting to stay in NY an even remotely OK reason to put on your why NYU essay? If I've already lived here 1+ years?

I've been working on that today and I'm glad I got a draft done before I read the profiles of the previous scholars and got too discouraged...theothercat wrote:Working on my Furman Public Policy Scholarship essay today! Want.

Haha, seriously! There's no way I'm getting that scholarship. Can't hurt to try I guess, though.lsa16 wrote:I've been working on that today and I'm glad I got a draft done before I read the profiles of the previous scholars and got too discouraged...theothercat wrote:Working on my Furman Public Policy Scholarship essay today! Back to a previous question...can anyone explain "under review" and "under review II."
This is my number #1 school and I applied under the ED option. I'm assuming that we won't hear anything until December, correct?

That is correct. NYU releases it's first, and statistically the most, decisions in December.flightline87 wrote:Back to a previous question...can anyone explain "under review" and "under review II."

Does applying to ED give any kind of boost?

the data suggest that it lowers your chances, but that might be because those who aren't likely to get in are the ones applying ED.longpig wrote:Does applying to ED give any kind of boost?

I really think this is a BIG reason! Great point, Protein!

Does anyone know what kind of numbers one might need to have a realistic shot at the Furman Academic?

Where did you get that info? I was on one of these threads where someone posted a graph of when schools send out their admits, but I can't seem to remember the site. Do you know it?Thelaw23 wrote:That is correct. Haha that's how I felt writing my RTK essay. But then I reminded myself (as others have also reminded me)--those bios are meant to make the person sound as good as humanely possible. You could probably write a really awesome bio about yourself that would wow people who don't know you (or even those who do--we are all our own worst critics!).

It just means that the date for "Under Review" is updated. There was no action on my status checker since I went UR1 on 9/16.

I saw somewhere that there's an "Under Review", a "UR1" and a "UR2". Is this correct? Are there three different dates for under review?curry1 wrote:SweetTort wrote:What's the diff between UR1 and UR2?curry1 wrote:UR2 this morning!

First UR was 10/13 and then date updated on 10/19. Applied ED.
