Re: University of San Diego c/o 2019 Applicants
Also received conditional offer based on keeping above a 2.81. 70th percentile.
Percentile GPA cutoffs on their website
Spring 2015 GPA Cut–Off for 1L Full-Time Students (176)
GPA CUT-OFF
Top 10% 3.60
Top 20% 3.48
Top Quarter 3.43
Top Third 3.33
Top Half 3.07
This would seem to indicate to me that a 2.81 is in the lower half of the GPA, but why not just say above the bottom 30% rather than 70th percentile

In with a 24K conditional scholarship with the 2.81 GPA requirement. I will not be attending, but feels good to know I got in.

Don't forget to withdraw! You could be giving your spot to someone else who really wants it!knowcompinc wrote:In with a 24K conditional scholarship with the 2.81 GPA requirement. I will not be attending, but feels good to know I got in.

If you do not plan to use the scholarship as leverage with another school please withdraw!

Great point, I will do that now. I got a full ride to the school I wanted to go to(thanks to the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship). I just need to email them to withdraw right?

I believe so. Most schools have a withdrawal process on their admitted students page.knowcompinc wrote:Great point, I will do that now. I got a full ride to the school I wanted to go to(thanks to the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship). I just need to email them to withdraw right?
Thank you! Good luck!

Just emailed their assistant Dean. Should be good to go, they probably won't return email until Monday, nonetheless, GL everyone. USD looks like a great school!

I'm in! They sent the scholarship email just minutes after the acceptance. I'm very surprised and happy about my schollie offer.

Which one are you looking at going to? I think I'm going to try to make the March 18th one and see if I can add on to it, like maybe shadow a student or something...LShopeful2016 wrote:Anyone else bummed that their admitted student's event is only a few hours long?

I think the one in March as well. I've visited the school already and I feel like this is going to be the same thing, but we'll see. I'll also probably stay overnight at a hotel and spend the whole next day in SD.UpstateXO wrote:Which one are you looking at going to? Initially offered $24k per year. Just sent an e-mail last week with my letter from Loyola to try and negotiate a better offer. USD replied and said my application has been sent to the appeals committee. I should be hearing back soon, so I'll keep you all updated.

Loyola Chicago granted me 26K/yr. I leveraged an offer of 40K/yr (besides, ranking higher than Loyola) against Loyola. But they replied "we granted most students so that we can't increase your amount."LShopeful2016 wrote:Has anyone anyone tried negotiating scholarships yet? What was the outcome?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
