The point is that someone should call and ask, and either 1) that person has disqualified themselves (93% chance) for being annoying or 2) that person is guaranteed admission (7% chance) b/c they are the only person confirmed on the waitlist.Dcc617 wrote:Nice try williamtell. You're just trying to get the competition to eliminate itself. Unless you knew that I would think that and so actually don't want me to call. If you read Asha's post she clearly states that they don't send out confirmations. I think calling can only hurt not help.

Anyone want to take bets on the likelihood of movement this week?

I personally know two people choosing H over Y, so there's that.SuperAverageJoe wrote:I would guess that if they have had seats open up based on deposit-deadline decisions, then there would be action this week.mdnyc wrote:Anyone want to take bets on the likelihood of movement this week?
That said, based on the earlier-reported high numbers in the FB group, and the lack of "Acceptance->Withdrawals" we are seeing on LSN, I'm concerned Yale won't have a need to pull from the WL.

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I know a bunch of people who are deferring (which might matter if more people end up deferring than will be replaced by people who deferred to join the class of 2019), and a couple of people who chose H over Y. That said, given how big the fb group was and how many people seem to be choosing Y over the Ruby/Hamilton, I can't help but have the feeling that this year will be below average in terms of the number of people taken off the waitlist.

We never hear from that poster who said he got a missed call from a new haven number, I don't think. Wonder if he's still celebrating or was just too embarrassed because it ended up being a telemarketer or something...

Mike Spivey just confirmed that the Seat Deposit Overlap Report came out yesterday, so I think they now have all the information they need to start making WL decisions. Assuming they're going to make WL decisions, of course.SuperAverageJoe wrote:I would guess that if they have had seats open up based on deposit-deadline decisions, then there would be action this week.mdnyc wrote:Anyone want to take bets on the likelihood of movement this week?

Re: Yale c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
It tells AdComs who, if anyone, has deposited at two different schools. Effectively, it confirms how many students accepted pre-deposit deadline offers and will attend. Since Yale has such a high yield (and will lose few more to other WLs) the report probably presages the biggest draw from the WL as Asha largely completed her class.SuperAverageJoe wrote:What exactly is the significance of that report?mdnyc wrote:

I asked in his thread.SuperAverageJoe wrote:Ah, I see. That makes sense. I didn't realize some people put down deposits at multiple schools. Spivey confirmed that the report is out for this year? Because the blog post you linked to was from 2015. Thanks for the info!mdnyc wrote:It tells AdComs who, if anyone, has deposited at two different schools. I don't think that number is very revealing though, since only 1-2 people have left the group, and I know of at least one individual who has chosen another offer, but remains in the group.

Did you all submit via email? I sent in my WL confirmation via email on April 26th, but still haven't gotten a confirmation email.

If it's of any use, they added someone to the Facebook group last week. So either that was a very late addition, or there is at least some miniscule movement from the WL.

I emailed mine in about a week after you and got the confirmation email. It sounds like they've been pretty sporadic with confirmations in the past though so this seems pretty par for the course.goldescholes wrote:Did you all submit via email?
