Have been lurking for a while. Just registered to add my numbers to the spreadsheets since I am finally submitting apps

Yale is the only app I'm not submitting yet (still working on that 250...)

I've read about the different ways people are listing activities. I went with resume style bullets and descriptions. Now that my activities sections are complete, I've decided not to submit a resume because it won't contain any new information and I don't want to be repetitive/annoying.

Will one of you guys please tell me if not uploading a resume is a bad idea? I don't want to look like a lazy applicant, but my resume is pretty much just a prettier version of my activities sections.

As a K-JD applicant with few activities, I didn't submit a resume and still got in. I'd say you need not worry about not submitting a resume ~

Thanks! And congrats on getting into Yale. I've been out of undergrad for four years, but everything I've done since undergrad (grad school, work, etc...) all fit within their description of post-college activities. I feel like the only reason to put that information in resume form is to show them what my professional resume looks like, and if they already have the information that seems redundant and like a waste of their time.

Hey Salander (BTW, just caught the LOTR gif you posted on page 12, very impressive. I'm a major Tolkien nerd and I have a sneaking suspicion I'd love you IRL),

Really nice work! I appreciate the effort you went into compiling those schools and everything. I feel comfortable that list is exhaustive of the schools represented the last 3 years, so I'd be suspect of other schools you might see on TLS. People lie on this forum to prevent being outed all the time. I wouldn't let that sort of thing discourage any of you though. If you're a good applicant, you're a good applicant, no matter your alma mater.

Also, this thread is absolutely dead and it depresses me, especially considering how weak it is compared to all the other TTT threads (like Harvard's, that's right, I went there.). Let's play a game like that "Never Have I Ever" game some people were playing in another thread.

Final note, we're officially in December now, which is always when the first few handfuls of admits trickle out. Not only that, but last year, the first admits were on December 6. So get pumped everyone! I'm sure you're all getting in.

Has anyone submitted any application updates? If so, did you receive some sort of acknowledgment? I sent an email with an update early last week, and have not heard anything back. I know they were closed last week and so would have replied yesterday at the earliest, but should I be expecting some sort of acknowledgment? Or do they not bother haha?

Hey Brooklyn, I didn't submit any application updates, but in my own experience, they're usually very swamped, especially right now, with applications. They could answer you, but I would not expect any acknowledgment on this, and they'll probably just make your update and not respond. Don't worry too much about it.

Surprised no one has mentioned this today ... last year admit calls began on Saturday, December 6. The equivalent day this year is today! No tweets today from ylsadmissions (in fact, no tweets at all since the app opened) so I doubt it'll be today, but we're now officially in the territory when calls could come at any moment. Wouldn't be surprised to see some action for some folks this coming week.

Yes, definitely less active on Twitter! It looks like for the last 3 years at least she has been tweeting before calls, so I hope that tradition wouldn't change! I highly highly doubt I would be in the first wave of calls, even if I do get in, but it would still be nice to know that Yale is showing love to some people.

I got a letter/packet in the mail this morning inviting me to apply - I applied to HS but thought Yale would be way out of reach since I'm KJD. Does this letter actually mean anything, or are they just trying to boost their applicants?

Based on their admissions data they definitely admit some KJDs, and if your numbers are competitive then I would say go for it. The app fee is comparatively low and applying later doesn't hurt your chances. No idea if the packet means anything substantial, but it certainly can't be a bad sign.

Side note ... wondering which of HYS will be the first to crack and start letting people in.

Got the packet last year when I took the LSAT (waited a cycle to apply). Not sure it means anything, they still evaluate you on the basis of your application, which they don't have when they send the packet. Probably does mean numbers are not a bar for you though, if anything.

Yale will definitely be the first to crack this year. Unless they too wait until after new years, but I would hope Asha would at least tweet something and let us know if she realizes decisions will be significantly later this year. I feel like at the latest she'll start making some calls sometime next week.

Yale does tend to favor candidates with work experience, but they definitely take KJD students every year. The letter definitely doesn't mean anything. Just like other schools, they send out the packets to a bunch of people each year to raise number of applications and trying to get a diamond in the rough to apply who might otherwise have not have. That said, If you have numbers in the realm of possible (3.65+,173+), I just don't know why you wouldn't apply and see what would happen rather than always wondering "what if?" I think you definitely should apply, and I'd be more than happy to help you out any way I can on your essays and application. Good luck!

I would expect at least a handful of decisions this month, but I'm not as confident as you that calls/emails (which many admits received last year) will happen at the latest next week. I mean, it could definitely be any day so next week or this week is in the realm of possibility. But last year it was the 6th, the year before it was the 17th, but a year or two before then, it wasn't until right before or right after Christmas. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Instead of the huge waves HLS and Columbia has, decisions trickle out of the school as applicants go through the faculty review process. It doesn't matter if you get admitted now or in April. Just focus on all the nice acceptances I'm sure all you guys have and put YLS out of your mind.
