For people who are wondering, typing in "Ut matching" in the search box on the bottom left of the page will take you to the most recent posts discussing the program

ETA: Obvious sarcasm. I would think they would do most T14, but they're stingy by reputation.

IMO they aren't really stingy when it comes to comparing offers with rankings peers like UCLA/Vandy, which is where most people fall in. I think they are pretty savvy about pricing themselves at a point where they can get most anyone who is serious about attending.6778628 wrote:Y maybe HS if you can show sincere interest.IsThisForReal wrote:I think the answer is no one really knows the answer to this question.carbo09 wrote:When Dean Ingram called me she said there was a matching program. For 2012 fall, I don't know if they cleared the waitlist entirely, but they were so desperate for high GPAs during that summer that they made offers to people they'd previously dinged.allentx wrote: I don't know how reliable my LSAT tutors information is but he said that last year or two years ago there was almost 100% acceptance off the waitlist

Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
Hi y'all!
I've been following this thread religiously for months now, but I'm just getting around to posting. I feel like I know a lot of you, though, through your posts lol
I was just accepted this afternoon I'm "technically" out of state but I go to TCU in Fort Worth. LSAT < median & GPA > 50
To be quite honest, I'd kind of already given up on being accepted but I went and met w/ Dean Ingram about two weeks ago just to show my interest and to basically give a face to my app. Turn in my Why UT about two weeks ago so it took some time to hear back. Haven't made up my mind about attending, primarily b/c of the cost, but I hope it will all work! Hopefully I'll hear something about scholarship in the next couple of weeks.
For those that were waitlisted: I thought I would be waitlisted and so I asked for Dean Ingram for advice, and she said LOCIs should be sent after at least a month of being waitlisted. Obviously accept being on the waitlist, but wait to send something.
Congrats to everyone!

Congratulations! Thanks for the advice! I was waitlisted almost a month ago and was a little disconcerted as to whether or not I should send in a LOCI right away or not. I'm currently working on my letter and am glad I decided to wait a bit after reading your post.mpvarelasisley wrote:Hi y'all!

Echoing mpvarelasisley's sentiments above. This board has really helped to make me feel a little less in the dark on this whole process. In 3/16, and I played phone tag with Dean Ingram for 5 minutes, then thanked her like I'd won the lotto. President's Scholly came on 3/18.mpvarelasisley wrote:Hi y'all!

Not even sure how I'd negotiate; GULC is the only peer school I app'ed. App'ed every ranked school in TX and DC (URM with split roots).

to do the matching program, do you have to be offered an initial scholarship to begin with? Thanks!!

Unexpectedly got in this afternoon. UT was my top choice but I didn't expect admission. I'll definitely be heading down next fall if they offer any money.

It's mid to late March! I know not to expect much, if anything, but even a few $K could be huge in my decision vs some of my other current offersFairchildFLT wrote: Dean Ingram just posted to the admitted students Facebook page that FAFSA grant information will come out "mid to late March."

Those of you who have done the matching program-
What kind of a turnaround are you seeing on a decision/response?

Longtime lurker. OOS. Complete since 2/18. No Why UT or other communication. Am I headed for a waitlist/ding? Anyone heard anything?

Only similar date data points on LSN show dings for the past two cycles, though it is quite a small samplebeebeedee44 wrote:Longtime lurker. OOS. Complete since 2/18. No Why UT or other communication. Am I headed for a waitlist/ding? Anyone heard anything?

According to the office, they won't take longer than 14 business days, although most people hear back before that.PhilippeStandingOnIt wrote:Those of you who have done the matching program-

Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
I asked this question on the Class of 2018 thread, but I wanted to ask it here too. I have officially decided to attend UT, but I haven't used my scholarship match yet. I want to see if they will raise my original offer just a bit. Do you guys think it would be better to do this before the first deposit or afterwards? On one hand, I suppose I have more leverage before the deposit, but on the other hand, there will probably be more funding to go around after the deposit. Any thoughts?

Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
I waited until after the deposit deadline last year to submit my matching request, but it was definitely a risk. If their medians are pretty solid after all the withdrawals of people who didn't deposit then there's not much incentive on their end to bump you up. With apps and LSAT scores both down this cycle you might risk it, since I'm sure they're not wanting to drop back to a 166 and in theory there's less 167+ scores to go around, but it would be a risk. I don't think there's any true answer to this that anyone can give you, maybe not even the adcoms themselves at this point since it's not known how many will withdraw. It just depends on your gut and risk aversion.

Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
Definitely don't think I want to take a risk in waiting after the deposit deadline, but I don't have substantial leverage :/ Really would commit to UT with some sort of an increase because I loved the school so much when I visited. Do you think its worth using my chance at the matching program/begging? ahhah
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
