Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
another question I have is regarding waitlists. If you get waitlisted (and eventually accepted) does UT throw as much money at you? Like, when you get the call that you've been taken off the WL, does UT offer money immediately because they want you to accept as soon as possible considering that spot was already rejected once?

Totally depends. They're pretty savvy, and from my limited experience they know how to offer just enough to hook you (hook em!). If they think sticker will do the trick, they will offer you sticker.choward014 wrote:another question I have is regarding waitlists. As a general rule, if you get in off the WL expect to pay sticker. Although I got into a T14 in August off of the waitlist last year and they offered me 60K. It can be kind of a crapshoot.
Checking in. Can't believe this thread exists already. I'll be a 3L when these kids are all 1Ls. That's nuts!

Good luck man, get that app in early but hope things turn around! There's a big TLS c/o 2017 (well, compared to most) for UT so it could help to be off a yearrion91 wrote:Checking in I guess. Sigh. Still hoping for an acceptance from last cycle
EDIT: Although I should say, at one of our incoming 1L events recently I was surprised at how many people were planning to take out large amounts of debt. If you have military ties, check out the Hazelwood Act and hug me later.

checked out campus today. probably walked 4 miles in doing so... but im pleasantly surprised. The law school is abysmal from the outside, but i looked through some windows and the front lawn and i thought it looked pretty cool. Oh, and btw... for those aesthetic folks like me... i was on the other side of the stadium facing the sunset (near 35 looking west towards campus) and saw a top 5 view in my entire life. the clocktower was in the foreground and in the background was a scattered cloud-pink sky-sunsetting-powerpoint looking background. Literally better than postcard material. It was fucking picturesque man. Awesome, awesome sight to see.

I think the outside of the law school is ok. When you step inside...that's when the trouble starts. New building is cool though.

lol i thought it looked like a mental asylum or something from the outside. weird how it differs so much between two people. either way... the rest of the campus is perfectly fine. loved the turtle pond for whatever reason haha you could walk right up to it

I think, from my experience, the outside is nicer than the inside other than the new parts.

It's what's on the inside that matters. Thanks, mom.

If you'd rather not share, please PM, but did you get DECENT money even though you were on the waitlist?Nightingale wrote:Hey, everyone. I'm in the c/o 2017, but I wanted to send some good vibes to all of you who might be nervously staring up at UT's notorious gpa floor.

Also guys, when I was in Austin yesterday morning, I decided to stop by the football field. Turns out, they were having open practice. So I thought I'd step into the stadium just to get a feel for how big it was and be able to see it empty and stuff.... guys there were like over 5 thousand people there for a PRACTICE. Not even a scrimmage. It was fucking astounding how much they care for their longhorns. People went there and almost filled up lower sections and everyone was wearing their school colors. I've lived in Texas almost my whole life and played high school football myself. I know we care about football moreso than most, if not all other state. But for a practice to have a turnout like this when it was around 95 degrees outside? I'm still in shock.
