The law school is abysmal from the outside, but i looked through some windows and the front lawn and i thought it looked pretty cool. Oh, and btw... for those aesthetic folks like me... i was on the other side of the stadium facing the sunset (near 35 looking west towards campus) and saw a top 5 view in my entire life. the clocktower was in the foreground and in the background was a scattered cloud-pink sky-sunsetting-powerpoint looking background. Literally better than postcard material. It was fucking picturesque man. Awesome, awesome sight to see.
As someone who grew up spending more time in Austin than anywhere else besides his hometown, it's a beautiful place. That whole area of the state is.

And I agree on the law school. It could use some touch-ups on the outside, but it's actually in pretty good shape on the inside. But, that's kind of the way UT is right now. The whole school (minus the stadium) is in need of a makeover.

Not sure if I qualify as a current student yet, but PM me and I'll gladly look at it.

Not yet, orientation starts tomorrow so I'd imagine we may get that info during one of the three days of orientation. There are 295 people in the facebook group.

Checking in. 170, 3.8, non-traditional, out of state. UT is actually my first choice, but it's conditional on getting a big $ offer and a in-state waiver. We'll see how that goes.

Does anyone know when their application opens?

I don't know a specific date but they say "first week of September"

I had to call them to find out that info though so maybe if we called now they'd give something more specific

Hmm... did UT request that anyone going join the facebook group? It seems like UT is gonna have a very close amount to the 317 from last year, figuring in that some people going might not have facebooks.

I mean, on the other side of that coin, there could be people in the group who withdrew

There are also a number of administrators and admissions people in that group. I'm sure someone will report the 'official' head count after tomorrow's orientation.

Checking in as a 1L -- already at four pages here? I'll also help answer questions as they come in.

Good luck all!

Checking in. Really eyeing Michigan and Texas. 100% GI Bill eligible so I'll go to either for free. They both also convert $ to cash awards for vets so it will depend on what they offer me.

So...soooooo lucky. If law school was free for me, I'd totally be shooting for YHS. The biggest reason I'm shooting for UT (besides wanting to work here) is because the value is incredible if you look at all the rest of the schools respective to it in the rankings. Especially with in state tuition, but even if you arent a resident, if you combine OOS tuition with Austin COL, its STILL cheaper.

Do you have ties to Texas and want to practice here? If not yes to both, you'd be a little crazy to do UT over Michigan for freesies. Either way, not a bad situation to be in!

I do have ties and want to practice in Texas. However; I would still be crazy to take Texas over Michigan for freesies. Michigan is my number 1 for sure.
