Yep that's where I'm at right now. I'm not one for blind optimism but it's looking like that's pretty acceptable considering my #s. I will probably be there in the fall.Chaucer1343 wrote:

Had anyone heard lately (rumors or otherwise) how big our class would be next year? Did anyone ask at ASW? Would love to know because it seems like that could impact out employment opportunities greatly.

I think they won't really know until after the deposit deadline. At the Houston reception, dean Farnsworth said they were trying to bring it up from the class of 15 low but wouldn't do so at the expense of their medians. I am guessing they are aiming for 350 but will end up closer to 300.BigZuck wrote:Had anyone heard lately (rumors or otherwise) how big our class would be next year? Did anyone ask at ASW? I heard the Dean Ingram wanted 350 for sure.. this was posted on this site sometime back.. 300 sounds really low based on that.shifty_eyed wrote:I think they won't really know until after the deposit deadline. They can't place 25% of 370 students into lawyer jobs. Doesn't it stand to reason that the class should be 25% smaller?
300 students is a great number I think. 350 is irresponsible.

I agree, but the class has been historically larger so I think they want to keep the size since a decrease might mean staff and faculty layoffs.BigZuck wrote:They can't place 25% of 370 students into lawyer jobs. Doesn't it stand to reason that the class should be 25% smaller?

It's worth noting that the official class of 2016 Facebook group now has 400 members.

Oh I get all that. But they exist to get their students jobs as lawyers, we aren't here to give them jobs as professors. I mean, on some level we are but sacrificing the needs of their students for the needs of their profs and staff doesn't sit well with me.shifty_eyed wrote:I agree, but the class has been historically larger so I think they want to keep the size since a decrease might mean staff and faculty layoffs.BigZuck wrote:They can't place 25% of 370 students into lawyer jobs. Then again that's how it is with all law schools and academia so not sure why I would hope they would be any different.
Hopefully the market will pick up substantially and we will all jobs and be able to pay off our debt in a timely manner!

Is that FB group the same as a admitted students page, or one exclusively for students who have put down the first seat deposit?JXander wrote:shifty_eyed wrote:It's worth noting that the official class of 2016 Facebook group now has 400 members.
Also, is the first deposit deadline for UT April 15th?
My application is currently complete as of March 20 (applied late), and I'm currently in the dark hoping for the best.
Thanks for the info.

Anybody had success negotiating with UT after their matching offer response.

A few people have. Small increases usually, 3-5K per year. Seems like you either need to start at nothing and they give you 5K, or have pretty strong leverage and they give you 3K more (basically bumping you up into the next scholarship tier)sheriffmclawdog1208 wrote:Anybody had success negotiating with UT after their matching offer response.

Yeah my matching offer came in the form of a named scholarship (the ____ _____ Scholarship), not just some general merit one, so I think that's how they fill in the requests. They did mention that they occasionally will throw people a few extra grand once all the requests and class #s settle down and they find extra money.BigZuck wrote:A few people have. Got 5 grand after asking for matching, didn't actually have many scholarships but compared the price of UT sticker vs UH with my 7k scholly.

I think UT gives everyone 3k/yr in need based grants (based on the form given me during my fin aid meeting), so be sure to check your FANs!!
