Got the same email, and no I don't think it's the same. Early decision is binding, and from what I've heard, priority track isn't. I will be applying though(probably not ED).masked kavana wrote:Just received a fee waiver and expedited early decision email.

Hey guys. I just got a fee waiver and "accelerated early decision". PT? They say "we guarantee a decision within ten days" and that I could choose binding instead if I wish. I assume so, but I'm paranoid.

My PT email explicitly said "Priority Track" in the subject line and within the body.

Re: Duke c/o 2016 Applicants Thread (2012-2013 Cycle)
Hmm the body of mine says "Based on the info from LSAC about your strong academic record, I invite you apply...your fee will be waived automatically when you complete the app. Accelerated Early Decision Option: If Duke is your first choice, you may wish to apply through Binding Early Decision [info about how choosing binding shows stronger interest etc etc]...because of the info we have about your record, if you choose to apply through Accelerated Early Decision we guarantee a response within ten days."
So...not PT? So confused.

Re: Duke c/o 2016 Applicants Thread (2012-2013 Cycle)
Sounds like they have a multiplicity of outreach techniques, including:
1) PT / fee waiver
2) RD / fee waiver. This sounds like what yours is. They are offering you a fee waiver for regular decision, but also throwing in that ED info with the expedited review to tantalize you.
*Disclaimer: I am a 0L and I don't work for Duke. Anything I say might be wrong and is solely my opinion. (AKA don't get mad at me if this is wrong)

Fairly certain it's not PT or else it would specifically say. It's just an email with a fee waiver and some info on ED. If you're still unsure though you could always email them.
Like I said earlier, I just got the same email and that's how I've interpreted it.

Yea my confusion is that they talk about "accelerated early decision" and then go on to talk about a "binding early decision" option which shows stronger interest. That plus the fact that I didn't think Duke did unsolicited waivers without it being PT, plus the PT emails going out now too. Soo confusing. But I'm still working and haven't been able to dig too far into it. In any case they would do well to be more clear!
Way to get my hopes waaaay up Duke.

PT or not, you still got the waiver. At the end of the day that's 70 bucks in your pocket, expedited review or not.Eichörnchen wrote:Yea my confusion is that they talk about "accelerated early decision" and then go on to talk about a "binding early decision" option which shows stronger interest. How long do these batches seem to run? Can we expect more in the next couple of weeks? I'm really hoping for at least a fee waiver from duke, but I haven't heard anything.

True, although I'd rather pay the $70 and get the expedited review! I was so excited too. Lame. I'm at or above 75th percentile on both LSAT and GPA, so I didn't think it would be too crazy for me to get PT. Duke why do you have to tease me like this?helix23 wrote:PT or not, you still got the waiver. I just got a fee waiver/Ed email too (reverse splitter) and I think it's pretty clear that it's different from the priority track offer..

Got the same waiver/ED e-mail. It's definitely not PT, although they had me fooled for a good 3 seconds.
I'm not applying ED, so I guess I'll just appreciate the fee waiver for what it is and continue with my plan to apply RD in September with the "Why Duke" essay I already have written.

Wish the LSAC application made it clear we were applying PT or not. There doesn't seem to be anywhere we select it.
I'm assuming we select Regular Decision and Duke will recognize our LSAC number?

Re: Duke c/o 2016 Applicants Thread (2012-2013 Cycle)
I didn't get selected for PT, but I'm assuming the e-mail contained a link to the page where you sign up for it. I think this is it: http://law.duke.edu/prioritytrack/ . If you already did that, then yeah, I guess they would just recognize your LSAC number. Though it says you'll receive additional information after you sign up, so I imagine they would also e-mail you to explain if you needed to do anything else.helix23 wrote:Wish the LSAC application made it clear we were applying PT or not. Hmmm I got an email that I don't understand--"Accelerated Early Decision." It says its binding and I get an answer back in 10 days. Is this Priority Track?? For some reason I didn't think it was binding. So maybe this is not PT.
Gonna wait to apply with all the rest of my schools.
