WL as well. Expecting a rejection, so neat, I think. I've deposited at Stanford, and they were incredibly generous with aid, so I think I'll stay here until maybe July or so. Good luck to all.

LOCI=letter of continuing or continued interest?

on a related note

I want to express my continuing or continued interest in Yale Law?

Gramma not ma strung piont

Both words are adjectives:

Continuing = "1. That continues (in various senses of the verb); abiding, lasting; persistent, persevering."
Continued = "a. Carried on or kept up without cessation; continual, constant."

They both seem to work.

Checking in, long-time lurker. Don't know what sort of new info you could put into a LOCI other than, obviously, CI....unless you've cured cancer since applying.

Have you cured cancer since applying?

About the only thing you can only add that really swings the pendulum is that you will absolutely attend if admitted--after all, they are just trying to fill the class at this point. But then again, 81% of the people in this forum will put that they will absolutely attend if admitted...

Otherwise, you can add any new grades/awards, but moving from a 3.88 GPA last fall to a 3.89 isn't going to have them turning over tables to admit you.

Just called, and FWIW, the admissions guy said that it doesn't matter when we send in the WL forms. A couple weeks from now is fine.

hey all, i'm trying to figure out how waitlist decisions are made at yale. i know that asha reads through the apps initially and they then go through faculty readings/rankings, but then what? does our status really mean that we just missed the cut in terms of faculty ranking? are other admissions officers not involved?

in other news, i keep flipping from elated to depressed to elated to depressed to...yeah...

I just have to say... I absolutely love Yale for looking long and hard at me as an applicant. Regardless of what happens next, I like Yale.

btw, are any of you planning to visit while on the WL?

Is anyone on the WL doing something other than sending the WL form to opt in?

I want to but I'm scared it will just make a rejection hurt more and not do anything to help my chances.

Ohh, what other schools are you considering? Also, double congrats for being WL as an undergrad.

Thanks! Looking at a number of schools, I'm really hoping either Penn or Yale will work out (WL'ed at both). I'm nontrad, spent some years working full-time btwn starting and finishing ugrad, so that might have something to do with it.

kinda interesting discussion i had with my school's president....he went to HLS and was on law review there at the same time John Roberts was there, he's friends with him..anywhoo, he got into Yale as well and chose HLS obviously and so he told me.

Quote:
Go to harvard, if you are asking which school is more elite, then its Yale, but if you are asking which school is more important and influential, then go to HLS....

his advice is interesting, never really had it framed that way so far

ha, it's depressing to realize the degree to which stanford lags behind hy in terms of prestige. i'm THRILLED with my sls acceptance, but wish the school got more recognition. why didn't u apply to sls?

Thanks! Also, your lsn profile is one of the best I've seen. I'm sure future applicants will appreciate it.

Checking in.

How quickly do you think one can wait to send in a LOCI? My graduation is in a month and so I won't know if I've received any major awards until then. Would it be advisable to wait until I have something substantive to say/update them on?
