I submitted an application in October and had not heard back in more than 14 weeks. When I called admissions they kept referring me to status checker. I decided that there is no way I am giving 100K+ to a school that can't make an admission decision or at least have the common courtesy to keep me informed. I sent an e-mail to admissions advising them of the reason I was withdrawing and this is what they sent back:

Hi XXXXXXXX,
Thank you for notifying us of your withdrawal from New York Law School. Your application was not forgotten and was with the Admissions Committee. We were trying to come to a final decision instead of putting you on the waitlist.

Thank you for interest in New York Law School and I wish you the best in your endeavors.

Got my admissions packet today with no scholarships. Really ticked off about that. Probably will withdraw to give someone else a shot at a spot. Good luck to everyone else.

Nope it made me feel anxious as hell lol. After finally hearing back from almost all my schools and pretty much decided I still feel anxious.

I got accepted with 20k as long as I maintain a 3.2 gpa. How difficult is that to maintain? I LOVE the area and really want to be in New York city. But I got into St.John's, Miami, Buffalo, and Rutgers Newark at sticker. Is it insane for me to take the scholarship and NYLS in order to stay in New York?? Im not really interested in going into big law but I do want to have some career options and I do want to be in New York. I just dont know if its smart to pass up on Rutgers Newark just so I can stay in the city. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.

That's a really tough call.. I am sure that a 3.2 is going to be tougher to maintain than getting a 3.2 in undergrad. I don't know the curve at NYLS. I am sure you can call them or maybe with some heavy detective work you can find it on their website. Buffalo is a great school I know a lot of professors at my undergrad school went to Buffalo and had really successful careers before they retired and became professors. But if I was you I would sort of look at all the schools at sticker and NYLS you will be getting a 20k coupon.

Best of luck

Well they say that 50% of the students will have a 3.0 gpa so id say maybe 40% are 3.2 and over? That should be manageable. I wish there were some NYLS graduates that on here that could tell us how good or bad a place NYLS is. Buffalo does seem like a really good school but the location isn't appealing to me. Right now im reluctantly leaning towards Rutgers-Newark and hoping to find a good enough reason to go to NYLS. Also waiting on the Cordozo, Brooklyn and American University wait list.

Hi all, Just sent in my first deposit today! Do any of you know if there is a Facebook group for our class yet? I tried searching for one but had no luck. I know many other law schools have them set up so the entering class can get to know one another & such before classes start. If there is enough interest I'll go ahead and create one & we can talk there since it's much easier and more accessible.

Hey!

So right now I'm trying to decide between Suffolk & NYLS (which gave me money). I wanted to know if any of you guys are in a similiar boat or have opinions that you would like to share.

Since NYLS is ranked higher than Suffolk AND gave you money I think that's the better choice. I also heard that many Suffolk students are not returning for their second year lately.... seems the school is really creating a hostile environment by putting students in too much competition with one another.

Then it also comes down to Boston vs. NYC. I'm from the Boston area but spent a semester of undergrad in NYC and loved it. That's more of personal preference, though!

question to you admitted students- my app status has been "complete and sent to committee for review" since I applied but on friday the date changed to 6/8/12 but the status remained the same. However now i have the box where they ask for seat deposits etc... did this happen before you were accepted or was this seat deposit thing there the whole time? anything would b helpful. thx

Yes, that changed when I was admitted. You will probably get an email, or have already stating your acceptance. Congrats!

Do not. I repeat do NOT attend either institution.
