Thanks for the info. What were your softs?

Also, to all Emory folk, I'll be applying as soon as I get my score back from the June exam. With my 3.31 LSAC GPA, what do you think my LSAT will have to be to get the $69k scholly? My application should be complete in early July, so I'm hoping this helps me.

What cycle are you trying to apply for? 2012-2013? If so, you won't be able to get your application in that early because they are not accepted until 10/1. (If I remember correctly.) So take the rest of your summer to write a GREAT personal statement.

Oh man, I had no idea! I'll definitely use that time to perfect my PS. I'm not from Atlanta or even Georgia (from north Florida), do you think I should do a "why Emory?"

I'm still interested if anyone has any idea about what LSAT I would need to get the $69k scholly

Go on Law School Numbers, the applicant section and sort by gpa. You can see what others got (I'd look a few years of data), but the real answer is no one knows.

As mrjohnsterman said, no one really knows, but it has been determined that it is based on more than numbers. With that being said, I suggest that you write a Why Emory essay, PS, and DS (if you bring something different to the table), visit the campus, and talk to the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, Ethan Rosenzweig. I would suggest applying to Emory as soon as the application opens and being one of the first ones in. They will have a lot of money in the pot at the beginning, so you will have better chance of getting your $69K (or even more).

Yeah, pretty excited for the color run myself! Didn't get a peachtree number though :(... I figured they'd give priority to people who have run it before but I guess not! Oh well.... :(

I personally contacted my assigned fin. advisor about my aid. She did state that they were not doing the financial aid yet, but since I asked, she pushed mine through. Squeaky wheel gets the oil, right.

The standard aid amount is awarded and you can accept less if needed, or apply for more through a PLUS loan, which I asked about too, and she said they didn't have the 12-13 applications available yet, and you cannot apply throughout the .gov website.

Sucks, since I am concerned about mine. My credit is a 740, but I have a bankruptcy from 7 years ago. All stellar credit since then....I REALLY don't want anyone else on my loan (for selfish reasons....I don't want anyone taking away my thunder)

I was concerned too and applied through the. Gov website anyway. Got rejected and was told it was something on my equifax.. it was erroneous and I was able to fix it and now can reapply. It took me a week to speak to someone regarding appeal and the appeal process is lengthy .. luckily you get to reapply after like 60 days so.... If you are real concerned and may need to pick another school if rejected without recourse- I'd apply now through. Gov...they said I can still apply through the school now.

Assuming you put a school other than Emory or GSU, since the website won't let you use either.

I did put GSU using the website and their school code is: G01574. And GSU fin. aid office was able to see the results after a couple two weeks or some such. It was really a pretty painless process and saved me from getting denied and having to go through an appeals process later.

Hey all,

Just following up on my original financial aid inquiry...I got an email yesterday saying my award info was available on OPUS. What they have posted so far is the unsub. Stafford and your scholarship. I called the financial aid office and the lady told me that you have to apply seperately for the grad PLUS loans and you can download the form at this link and send it over to their office: http://www.emory.edu/FINANCIAL_AID/grad ... -forms.php

She also told me that Emory does not do federal work study for grad students but there are other emplyment opportunities that will be posted later in the summer here: http://www.emory.edu/FINANCIAL_AID/stud ... /index.php

Oh, and the applications for grad PLUS loans should be sent in in the next month - August.

Does anyone know what the dress code is for tonight/tomorrow? I thought I remembered reading casual but I can't find it anywhere on the schedule.

I just called the admissions office and they said "smart casual" for both, ie: no shirts with holes or jeans.

So I guess don't look like a bum and you'll be fine. Haha.
