Wow, it's pretty messed up someone on TLS that isn't the guy ran and got involved in his application process and got him outed. I know some people are gunnerish, but this is a new level of WTFuckery. Sorry username, someone obviously cares more about michigans name (which I don't think he was even trash talking, just ruminating) than about an actual persons potential future. I understand they may have been curious but he wasn't even really given a chance to contact them.

Oh and Z that was my devilishly handsome alter ago typing those angry words. I'm still checking from word from you every hour.

Nice work calling someone out to an adcomm. Michigan trolls continue to be the most unpleasant people on TLS.
This, so much this and so sad.

You do realize that the poster claimed on TLS, before emailing or calling admissions, that Michigan reduced his/her financial aid package by 13.5k because his/her LSDAS GPA dropped .01, right? As that sort of claim paints Michigan in a negative light (ETA: probably unintentionally), I'm sure you can understand how drawing attention to Dean Z's personal response to the claim is probably the most appropriate course of action.

ETA: Unless you're saying that the comment on Dean Z's blog was the "calling out." If that's the case, then I completely agree that the post on her blog was inappropriate.

I am close to your numbers 171/3.52 with 45k scholarship. I applied mid Sept and was accepted mid Nov.
I think you still have a chance
I spent most of my undergrad in leadership positions-I think it may have had a bearing on the amount of scholarship I received.

It is poor form by whoever shared the information, but if Michigan Adcomms are as present on this board as we think they are, wouldn't they have figured this out on their own anyways?

TBF, the poster outed themselves by posting very specific information that could only relate to themselves on TLS. If you think someone is trolling Michigan, please msg either myself or another current student. Had I seen it, I would have emailed Dean Z and asked her in general terms if they decrease aid after awarding it. Doing it on her blog is not appropriate.

My post was mostly referring to the bizarre cult of Dean Zearfoss that goes on around here. It's pretty obvious who outed the guy to Michigan and I think it's gross. It works against the purpose of TLS if people can't be honest here because they need to worry about other 0Ls running to admissions deans. If adcomms want to lurk these threads, that's one thing (though maybe Michigan would get its decisions out faster if they spent more time reading apps and less time reading TLS).

Edited for typo.

Shit... now I feel bad for posting that link... I posted the link before Dean Z posted her breaking news, so I was just trying to link to the part where they say they won't lower an award and for the person to contact her.

What I don't understand is why the compelled TLSer didn't just email Dean Z directly, rather than post on her blog...

Dean Z doesn't lurk. Current students bring things to their attention when appropriate. E.g. Last year when a mini riot started on here over a troll. In this case, the trolling wasn't so obvious I would have outed the person. I would have emailed her in general terms and then called out the person myself.

Calling their attention to everything defeats the purpose. Some discretion is needed.

Ah, I see the distinction now. Thanks!
Any source for this? It seems that schools generally have an unrounded cut-off on LSN. That is, they don't treat a 3.67 like a 3.70.

I thought Dean Z had mentioned in a recent blog post that she doesn't use social media sights to research applicants or visit message boards like TLS. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure she said something like that.

The ABA report on U of Illinois after the Dean Pless scandal. They clearly stated that they round to one decimal in reporting and that the errors found in the U of Illinois scandal were much more than pure rounding errors.

Dude gets scholly reduced after grade drop. Dude posts that info in the thread for applicants. Makes sense to me.

It's a unique situation but to the average applicant it may not seem so out of the ordinary that it's worth investigating before posting to TLS.

I just read back through the past few pages of the thread. Nobody sticks out as the sort of person that would call out a TLSer to Dean Z on her blog. But then, it's not the first time I've overlooked how malicious people can be.

Still complete for Michigan. I'm guessing a waitlist at this point.

It actually depends on the school. For example, Northwestern and Illinois round when reporting the GPA data. Michigan does not.

What appears to get lost in this whole shuffle, and maybe I just overlooked it, is how Dean Z stated the TLSer's file is still being processed by financial aid. If that's the case, how would username08 even have been able to see an amount on the ASW? I don't know when username08 was admitted, but from reading back through the posts today, it seems like he/she had that information (the scholarship) for awhile, given that he/she was afraid fall grades may lower the amount. How did username08 see the amount if the file was still being processed by financial aid?

Maybe this is the danger of looking online before a letter is mailed? Not positive, but if it's going to change I'd guess it would be before a letter was mailed.

Okay, I was the one who made the stupid post and I'm here to apologize. This issue was 100% my fault and I am so sorry to Dean Z, everyone at Michigan Law, and everyone on TLS. I was immature and flat-out wrong. I'm typing up an apology and an explanation right now that I'll substitute with this message ASAP. I apologize for this whole fiasco and I deserve all the blame.

EDIT: Sorry, I guess I should have clarified. I didn't write the post on Dean Z's blog but I was the .01 guy.
