Is there normally a small wave of acceptances in May after students deposit at other schools like HLS and SLS that have deposit deadlines on May 1 and withdraw from Penn?

Go to Penn's LSN page and look at applicants of past years, sort by decision date, find early May, and voila!

I'd do it for you, but I'm not able at the moment.

Thanks, I'll do it. I was hoping someone would know off the top of their head and save me the time, not just for Penn but for other schools as well. But I can do it as you say.

Anybody been able to get a straight answer out of them about when they're going to make decisions on scholarships?

Pretty sure that today is a big named scholarship deadline so you can probably bank on offers next week.

Wow

Sorry to hear that Sayornis!

Although I think it's safe to call it YP, so the usual caveats apply - if you really want Penn over your other options then telling them that might get you an acceptance...

Honestly, unless you really wanted to go to Penn over Harvard/Stanford...waitlisting you was the right call.

Haha I mean they made a good call for YP purposes. I wrote all the extra essays AND sent a LOCI (Penn was one of my top choices because of the 3-year JD/MBA program at Wharton).

Guess they didn't appreciate the effort.

Depending on how the HLS ASW goes, I'll be withdrawing soon to open up the spot :)

Sorry if this has been asked already (I am admittedly too lazy to look through the last few pages of this thread), but is anyone on the WL doing the additional essay? What do you think they are looking for? Writing skills, creativity, a Why Penn (if we haven't written one already)? hmm...

I wrote a diversity statement/musical or art inspiration essay for my initial application. I sent in a LOCI this weekend; will be sending in the two-page essay (discussing what makes me unique in terms of life experiences in the classroom, through world travels, and as a social activist; sort of explains my below median LSAT too) next week; and will send a character reference from a highly regarded non-profit leader the week after.

But if you have not written a "Why Penn" essay, you would probably want to do that ASAP? I included a lengthy "Why Penn" explanation in my personal statement that was roughly three-quarters of the page.

I'd gladly trade your Columbia acceptance for my Penn one :D

(Gratz! :D)

Haha, I think I'll stick to my Columbia acceptance ;). But Penn is still a good choice, even though the Sandusky scandal kind of puts it in a bad light.

@Everyone else:
Will be withdrawing from the waitlist soon. I hope that lessens the competition.
