Super Ridiculous Splitter Thread ( <2.5 GPA, >165 LSAT)
I've seen splitter threads, but none specifically tailored to the truly tragic splits. Let's hear some of the stories that can give us all hope for the remainder of the cycle.
2.4 167 here and so far in at @ W&L, but still praying for a few more. I'm sure there's better ones out there, post them!
Edit: As I posted this in at UGA from being held!!!!

Given your split, I think the qualifier "super ridiculous splittler" applies. Carry on =)splitmuch wrote:Does 178 and 3.09 count?

I decided not to ED because I'm pretty sure I wanna do DOJ (US Attny office is my dream) work so I'd rather sacrifice Biglaw prospects for less debt.

Re: Super Ridiculous Splitter Thread ( <2.5 GPA, >165 LSAT)
Would I qualify with my 3.26/179, or am I just a boring old regular splitter?

I'll grant you super ridiculous, but I'm not sure that your results are ones that would give me any hope whatsoever

Does a 2.5/161 wrapped in a URM shell get me into this thread? Or should I just keep walking?

I'm equally amused by the clearly stated parameters being misunderstood, but honestly it's a thread for people to share encouraging stories, so it doesn't really matter. 2.5/161 URM, consider yourself welcomed =)

I thought 84000 to WUSTL would be encouraging, I shared the berkley reject because its the only other school I've heard back from, still waiting on the top 14-HYS and UT, UCLA, ND

Dear Pballer:
I am writing this letter to express my continued interest in the Super Ridiculous Splitter Thread. My Grade Point average is strong at 2.4, but my LSAT is just shy of your 25 percentile at 164. If admitted I look forward to discussing the ridiculousness of splitter cycles and other splitter related topics.
Sincerely,
Justathought

I will say that Law School Predictor is supposedly pessimistic towards splitters chances but is very optimistic with mine (giving me an admit at Duke, for instance)- which confuses me.

LSP can be overly optimistic too. It uses a modified linear formula IIRC so poor gpa can be made up with extra high LSAT in a way that just doesn't happen IRL.splitmuch wrote:I will say that Law School Predictor is supposedly pessimistic towards splitters chances but is very optimistic with mine (giving me an admit at Duke, for instance)- which confuses me.

Okay, just to give folks an idea of my cycle thus far:
Applied mid-January to 36 schools. Yep, the life of an over-zealous splitter is down right silly.
URM: PR
In:
Rutgers - N
BLS
DePaul - with 12k per year.
Quinnipiac w/ 90k guaranteed over 3 years.
Hofstra
Out:
W&L
Wake
UIUC
WL:
Penn State.
Held:
Miami
At this point I'm leaning heavily toward Rutgers. Yes, I still need to hear from a ton of schools, many T1s which would likely make me think twice about my current leanings, but at this point I'm expecting a myriad of Waitlists and Rejections. 2.4 is tough to overcome. Even if, like me, you are 8 years detached from your poor work.

2.46 (3.5)/167
Six years reporting for a mid-sized daily newspaper. Two years president of the college democrats chapter at my undergrad. 3.6 GPA the past four years (I made some crappy decisions my first two years in junior college).
In at Lewis & Clark, Santa Clara (w/$18K), and Minnesota.
Waitlisted at Colorado and Notre Dame.
Pending at Iowa, Alabama, UC Davis and Oregon.
Good luck, fellow misfits.

Iowa is a total joke. Just like a few other Big 10 schools who game the ranking and stay atop USNWR because of the 40 % school reputation part of the formula.bbermud wrote:153 and 3.73
