Anyone know what Associate Corp Counsel range is at Amazon? Is $270k TC right if you come in at high end of the band?
I don’t know about it being the high end of the band but that sounds about right for base+equity from what I’ve heard from friends.

235k base
8% annual bonus
$260k/4 year equity

Downside of tequity is our stock has dropped precipitously from when I was priced in. Big comp hit unless we recover.

I’m awaiting an offer from a series b startup in tech. Anyone have any insight as to what unlimited pto really means in that case? Reading this thread, it seems that less than 170 is low base.

Do these jobs require m/a experience, or is privacy/technology contracts enough?

I truly don't understand how everyone finds these jobs. I'm entering my 4th year at a V10 corporate practice. I've interviewed 5 companies in the last 6 months and so far 4 of them had salaries and total comp below $120K and the 5th offered $200K but expected 7 years of experience. I'm looking at FL which is part of why the salaries are lower, but Miami is not a low cost of living city (lower than NY, SF and Boston for sure, but more expensive than most of the country). Are you all looking on LinkedIn?

In-house legal comp packages in Miami are a joke, even in the tech industry. IME, high-paying in-house tech jobs are mainly sourced in NYC, SV, and Texas.

Okay, so it's not just me. Thanks for confirming! It's very frustrating. I've worked for years to polish off my resume and worked at one of the top law firms in the world for over 3 years now...just to have people offering me $120K jobs or say I need 7+ years experience to make any more. I've lived in NYC for years and can safely say that FL isn't as cheap as people seem to think it is, so these salaries are just crazy. Sure, a some sort of salary haircut makes sense but this is ridiculous.

I agree, $120k base is crazy for an experienced attorney, especially when in-house legal roles these days (and tech is no exception) demand more than 40 hours/week. Lots of growth initiatives, cross-border deals, M&A, etc.

I will say, though, Miami/South Florida is much more affordable than NYC if you know where to look. In Miami you can get a 1,500sqft, 3-bedroom apartment with parking for $1 million or less, and not pay that much in real estate taxes or common charges (plus, you pay zero state income tax). Can't find that anywhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

For me, I'd hold out for the $250k base in NYC or $200k base in South Florida.

I would take off the FL filter on your searches and look at NY and SF (and maybe DC/Austin too), especially if you’re looking in tech. LinkedIn seems to still require companies to put in a physical market for a desired location, but if you actually look at a lot of postings now they offer full time remote as well. I know at my tech company, the jobs are posted in our HQ market, but they can all be fully remote, and we don’t care where the person is located in the US when hiring.

Didn’t end up interviewing for the role but spoke with the company and these are the data points they provided:

Base: 230k
Bonus: 20% of base salary (bonus goes up as base salary increases)
Equity: 40k annually but vests in some weird way didn’t get into details.
Some 401k matching, nearly free healthcare.
3-5 years experience preferred.

Patent prosecution. Public pharma company. Fully remote position but the company is based in California.

Maybe don't count as "junior" anymore. I just got promoted into a senior AGC role at a big private company in a flyover state. Left biglaw after 5 years to come here, been here a few years prior to this promotion. Base pre-promotion was 185.

Base: 210
Bonus: 15%
LTI: 15% ESOP shares
Other benefits fairly standard.

Hi all, any thoughts on why comp offers I'm seeing might be low? c/o 2015-2016 on the hunt, hearing numbers sub-150 for major markets (NY/SF/LA). Might be selection bias but it seems like folks here are pulling in much better comp packages.

What’s the consensus on when someone is no longer “junior”? Like, as a rising sixth year at this point is it fair to say that I’m not “junior” for in-house purposes anywhere at this point?
