aiming to PT 175+..is 11 months too long?

Post by aniston958 » Sat Jan 05, 2019 2:38 am

hi all,

diagnostic 140. aiming for 173, so I want to pt 175+ consistently before going into the exam room. I can study 3-4 hrs on week day, and 5 on weekends. i don't even plan on thinking about signing up for the test until i can atleast score high 160's..so while i don't have set date, i am looking at taking the feb or june 2019 test.

1) does my schedule match my score goal? any further advice is appreciated.
2) should i plan on taking it earlier in case i would have to retake? also for schools that say they look at scores "holistically" ..will scoring for instance on retake and like high 160 on first try hurt chances comapred to scoring 175 on first try ?

Thank you!

Honestly, 11 months is not long enough. Think more like 2-4 years of studying. Seriously.

You need to get roughly 90 questions right for a 173. You probably got about 35-40 right on your diagnostic. It's not a given that you can make that kind of improvement at all. Peaking too soon isn't a legitimate concern at this point; learning question types and drilling should be your only focus.
