137 to 155 for January Test?

Post by MustHit155 » Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:34 pm

Hey everyone:

What are my chances of going from a 137 to a 155 for the January test coming up? That would be an 18 point increase from my initial diagnostic (135) and two PTs (136 and 137). A major problem I am having is only being able to complete ~11 to 15 questions per section. Also, the accuracy is just not there.

However, during my studies when I do untimed Logical Reasoning or Logic Games questions; I tend to do very well getting LR questions right most of the time (some questions it has taken me 20 to 30 mins to hash out the rationale of each answer choice). For LGs, if I get the diagramming down and am not rushed; I can eliminate answer choices and/or be able to pick the correct answer most of the time --> I can this section improving the most for me since it clicks in my head (explanations and videos from 7sage). For Reading Comprehension, I do not think I will attempt to correct this section since I do not think I have enough time to correct it.

I only started studying last week (about 4 days).

I do not have school, work, or obligations until January, 26.

Please let me know if you got any tips!

I just started studying for the LSAT (taking it in March) and the PowerScore Bibles are really good!! They help with time efficiency and accuracy and have very good explanations to each question asked. They also help to explain the test makers logic on how they structure the test and why they ask what they do. I would definitely recommend checking those out, you can just prime some on Amazon and get started relatively quick.

Focus on big picture elements, and learn the different types of games and LR questions. You're not going to have enough time to learn and master every element of the test and are not going to hit your peak potential. You need to accept that you're going to greatly regret not taking the test seriously for the rest of your life, particularly with your starting score and that there is an above 90% chance that this is going to be the single biggest financial blunder of your life.

With that being said, the LR bibles are good. You can get a 1 on 1 tutor to walk you through every aspect of this test, but it would be unethical for me to say other than not studying for most of the next year or not punting on the concept of law school is the single worst decision of your life. This test determines, in large part, your first job out of law school, the scope of your legal career and how much you will be repaying in loans.

I think you may be best served taking out a large loan to go on a Vegas bender, because you'll have similar odds of realizing a return and a fun time. If you're ruining your life, you should at least have fun doing it. Your current plan of getting a bottom feeding law school LSAT score and max loans to launch a career is not fun, and will require serious effort over the holidays. You can have the same result with an alternative course of action that includes roulette, brothels, and bars. I'm happy to recommend casinos and hotels if you are open to this course of action.

Thanks for the warning. I live in Canada and the law schools admission are alot more laxed here. I can get into my law school of choice with a 155 and my current GPA.
