Loved the Trainer. But only the LR part.

I just started the trainer and I love the LR part but not sure how I am feeling about the logic games.

Would you skip it? And use 7sage or keep going and then do 7sage. I got a -4 on LG cold but it wasn’t timed so I’m sure it was a bit more than 35 mins. They are pretty fun and mostly come easy to me.

Any advice?

I don’t like his approach to games. I did the Manhattan. But I didn’t really understand games until I watched 7Sage video explanations.

Powerscore has the best games prep of any book I've seen.

On reading comp, check out this blog https://blackacreprep.com/blog/2017/8/1 ... ading-comp. It's about how you should read for argumentative structure, not detail, on RC.

Hello all,

I started the LSAT preparation several weeks ago. I did the LSAC official practice test and got a 158. I'm aiming for a mid 160.
LG -7
LR -4
LR -7
RC -7

Anyone in Houston want to study over the summer? I'm a teacher, only taking a total of three weeks vacation, and the entire rest of the summer will be full time study.

I started studying a week ago! My plan is to do the 4 week LSAT Trainer schedule from May to June to get a foundation, then drill and PT and focus on specific weak points from June to July, and July until September I am enrolled in a testmasters live course and will be PTing more rigorously!

Started studying this week. Diagnostic using PrepTest 72 (June 2014) at 170. My plan as of now is to get through The LSAT Trainer in the next month and then work through the PowerScore Bibles after that, in addition to trying to do as many PrepTests as I can.

A question for those who have done a lot of PrepTests: is there a substantial difference between the earlier tests (e.g. #29-38) and the latest ones (#72-81)? How useful will it be to take the earlier ones?

Checking in:

Currently at a 155 (although would maybe would be hitting 160 by now)

Using LSAT trainer and Manhattan series

Currently going back into LSAT trainer's early LR sections and working on engraving in my head; being able to quickly identify argument flaws.

I think maintaining a critical mindset is going to be my key for high levels of success. It's almost like a "switch" for me, when I get in a "debate" mindset everything seems so clear but then when I wake up in the morning it's like the switch turned off something lol.

Still just began though plenty of time for improvement!

Hey guys! New poster and first-time applicant here, does taking the September LSAT give us enough time to receive our scores (which usually takes 3 weeks from what I gather) and then review them before deciding whether or not to apply in time to meet Round I Early Decision deadlines? Round 1 ED deadlines are November 10th for Duke and November 15th for UPenn. Am I in risk of not getting my scores into them on time for ED consideration if I take this September LSAT? How long does it usually take for law schools to receive LSAT scores once someone decides to apply?

Nov LSAT is Nov 17, 2018. You'll def get your Sept LSAT score before ED deadlines but not before November. You could probably submit ED with your Sept LSAT and mark that you're waiting on Nov LSAT scores. Resubmitting is not out of the question.

Marialsatprep wrote:Hi everyone!

Not sure if I’ll be taking the July test but for sure will take the September one.

I got a 155 on a diagnostic.

RC- -7
LG- 4 (but I didn’t time it and I’m sure I went over the 35 mins)
LR- -9/-10

I started using the trainer and then will move on to 7sage.

I have three kids so I get about 2 hours to study at night.
My diagnostic is very similar and I have a 4 month old so studying has been very challenging. Work and child care takes up 16 hours of my day. What I’ve done to improve my score is print out problem sets based on question type instead of practice tests. This is helping isolate the topics and question types I need the most work on. So, I have even started timed sections yet. I want to wait till I can score 175+ untimed before I start to work on speed.

Any advice on this type of approach is appreciated. Thank you

Check in!

I am Tiffany :)

I got 167 in June LSAT, and I will retake on Oct 14, 2018. I am working for a 169+ grade in next LSAT, and hopefully my last LSAT as well. I am weak in RC (-3 to -8), just ok in LR (-1 to -4 per section), and good at LG (-0 to -2).

I am now studying full-time, and I am looking for a self-motivated, diligent, and passionate study partner. Hopefully we can give advice to one another and improve together (online)!

General LG question: does anyone find it helpful to check over the more challenging questions after finishing a game? Is it a total time suck or worth the extra minute(s)? Also, is it even really possible to check over In/Out games if you can't master the game?

Got a 154 on the July test :( ..was scoring about 157-158 on practice tests so it was a little lower than I expected. Although, I know I choked on the LG, I misread a rule and made all my diagrams and did some Q's before I realized it and lost like 6 minutes!! Anyway, I'm taking the September test and I finally broke 160! The last three practice tests I've gotten 161, 160, 160..so their is hope! I really need to get faster on my RC, I'm accurate just super slow, I usually only get 3 of the 4 sections done with like 2 minutes left. Any advice on speed in the RC passages would be awesome!!!!

At one point do you feel you have established a baseline score? I mean approximately where you tend to end up after most full practice tests? How do you think this score will compare to test-day? My gut is that there is a baseline and that, all things being equal, my score on test day may go up somewhat from my baseline.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
