Yes. First two-thirds are great. Last third is pretty useless.Platopus wrote:Anyone read Thomas Piketty's Capital in the 21st Century? I picked it up a couple years ago, but never got around to it. I'm pretty left-leaning, but I just read his dissent and I take it more as him splitting hairs over whether the summary reversal in this case was justified, not as making a grand statement about the validity (or lack thereof) of LGBT parental rights--as it is being portrayed in the media.vtdelt wrote:I am not a fan of what I'm hearing on his dissent for birth certificates...Slippin' Jimmy wrote:Kennedy is a good Justice, it really would be a shame if he retired. Well, that depends on which resorts. This time I'm just going to Valle Nevado which is a relatively short drive although I plan to take dramamine before had due to all the switchbacks. I lived in Santiago in high school so I've skied there a couple of times but this is the first time as an adult ski addict. A local friend has a condo at El Colorado so she and her family will come up and a friend from here is joining me on the trip. It's my 40th birthday gift to myself. I hadn't actually been back to Chile since 1993 until last December for a school reunion so it's funny that I will be back twice within a one year period.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:coskigirl wrote:I leave for a ski trip to Chile on August 16 and really hope I don't have to take study materials with me. Next weekend I head to Steamboat Springs for mountain biking and to visit my mom. It will either be a distraction from the wait, a celebration of a year of fun before starting school, or a mourning and last blast before buckling down again.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:I booked a cruise from Puerto Rico for score release day
I'm not studying for September yet as I know myself well enough that I know I need a mental break and more physical activity to get me in the right frame of mind for round two if necessary.
My goals are lower than most of you but my path is pretty well set with 1 primary school option, a company that will employ me throughout school and pay for a portion or school, a boss that wants me to do this with the thought that I'll take his role as US counsel for a U.K. based holding company when he retires, an already secured externship etc. But when you have several people in your company, including members of the board of directors, watching there's some pressure.
Dude that's sick live always wanted to get some South American skiing in. Is it hard to get to the resorts?
From what I've read, if you're trying to practice in CO then local schools are the way to go so it sounds like your path is the best one to take!
So, I had the weird urge to do a couple of logic games today. Apparently, even though I started off sucking at them I've become fond of them and enjoyed working through a couple. WTF?

I am secretly hoping an LG-esque dilemma will mysteriously cross my desk and I'll be the only one in the entire company who can solve it. Push my glasses up on my nose, sweep my bangs to the side, it's my time to shine.

There's a reality show on MTV called Are You the One? that basically combines The Bachelor with a giant Logic Game. My friends desperately want me to go on it and just LG-hack the whole thing.DorkothyParker wrote:

So uh maybe this is a weirdness about me, but I don't understand how so many prospective law students have 'favorite' SCOTUS judges and that sort of thing.
Is it similar to how people who are awful/inexperienced at sports still have favorite sports teams or something?

So does anyone know yet how differently they will be studying for a September retake? I know I am still holding off on picking up the PTs because I got super burned out before the test and didn't pick up on it until too late :/. But wondering if anyone is already thinking about taking a different approach.

Doubt I'm retaking, but if I do end up retaking, it'll be the same prep - 3 PTs a week. I know the LSAT, I averaged 172+ on my last 15 tests, if I did worse than that on test day, it's just unfortunate, not a fundamental problem in my prep/lack of readiness.Walliums wrote:So does anyone know yet how differently they will be studying for a September retake? I might try a different approach for RC. Someone suggested on the June LSAT thread that we read the questions first before reading the passage--didn't dare to change my approach one week before the test, but may try to do it now. Otherwise the same approach for LG and LR, but in 30 minutes instead of 35 minutes.Walliums wrote:So does anyone know yet how differently they will be studying for a September retake? That said, I really, really, really do not want to retake. So much so that I'm close to giving up on law school apps if my score doesn't hit the target.

I'll probably just do PTs and Timed sections with blind review, and drill old games like crazy. I know the stuff my problem is just I need to be more consistent.Walliums wrote:So does anyone know yet how differently they will be studying for a September retake? Not the same at all. Wait until you start reading Supreme Court opinions--you will too have favorites! You will spend hours upon hours reading them. I love Brennan!!!!!!!!!! His arguments are art! Maybe I phrased that poorly. I have read a few opinions, and I definitely have authors who I found more humorous/engaging/whatever, but nowhere near enough to get to the point of actively writing about how much I love/don't love a certain justice.it's allgood wrote:Not the same at all. This is how I am! I think I need to work on my time management within LR and RC. So I think I'm going to start with the earlier tests and shorten them to 30 min sections.Slippin' Jimmy wrote:I'll probably just do PTs and Timed sections with blind review, and drill old games like crazy.
